    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my year working for Porsche Cars GB. This placement has shown me what working in the industry is like from Day 1 and has continued to develop my skills and practical knowledge from then - all of which has been a great experience. It's been a fantastic year working for Porsche and I would recommend it to anyone!

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The team at Porsche are great! Each staff member has given me their full support throughout the placement and have worked with me to make sure I've enjoyed every minute. You will never be seen as just an intern whilst you are working here, as you are treated the same as any other staff member is, so you always feel part of the team.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The full team at Porsche have given me a massive amount of support throughout the year I've spent with them - whether that be on a work or personal level. My Manager has trusted me enough to let me get on with things, and often leaves me to run events on my own. They encourage you to challenge yourself, which means you learn so much more than you think you will whilst taking part in a placement year.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Most of the time whilst taking part in this placement you are busy, whether that be running the event or liaising with clients. There aren't many days where I haven't had multiple things to do without the day. During the Christmas period, it can slow down quite a bit, however you are always given tasks to do by your managers to keep you busy.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • The responsibility I have been given during my placement year has been fantastic! As you're part of a small team, they rely on you putting 100% of your effort into the role from day 1, and expect you to step up and hold managerial responsibility when they need you to. As mentioned previously, you are never treated as just an intern whilst you are at the company, so you are given just as much responsibility as everyone else.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The amount of industry knowledge and experience I have gained whilst working at Porsche will help me massively in the future. I can definitely apply many of the skills and knowledge I've learnt to my final year at university and my dissertation. Additionally, during my future career I hope that the experience I've learnt this year will assist me with any role I take on in the future

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in the office is very relaxed and comfortable which makes working at Porsche really nice. You can always have a laugh with the other staff in the office, which makes it much more friendly and inviting. It also means on a work level, you can always ask questions if needed.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement itself has been very organised and well set up, they have measures in place to ensure you settle into the role quickly and are happy with everything you have to do throughout the year. The only thing I would change is that I didn't receive much contact from the company once I'd signed my contract, so didn't know if they required anything else from me.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I have been on many training courses throughout my time at Porsche and can opt to take part in more courses if I wanted to. They also run training courses that help you in the future, for example a CV Workshop with HR to get tips on making your CV the best it can be.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Above 25 days holiday

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would like to get a job with Porsche in the future, however, there isn't currently a graduate scheme within the company so this is unlikely. However, you are told from the beginning that if you do well throughout your year and apply for a job in the future, you are likely to be highly considered.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Whilst working at Porsche, I was 1 of 2 interns based at my centre so there is a limit on fellow placement students. However, you build a strong friendship with the other intern at the centre as you can understand the situations that sometimes arise whilst working and can assist each other through them. Through this placement, I have gained friends for life.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Northampton as an area is really nice and I found it cheap to find somewhere to rent. Your pay very well reflects the area, meaning I was able to afford my own flat during the year. There is lots going on in Northampton and Milton Keynes is close by which offers lots of other things to do as well.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife in Northampton is varied. I really enjoyed it as there are lots of bars in the area and work night outs are organised throughout the year including birthdays. The staff members will ensure they show you the best of Northampton Town Centre and will make sure you enjoy yourself

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There are lots of opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work whilst working at Porsche. The circuit often runs quiz nights and yoga sessions, as well as a sports day which you can team up for. Your work colleagues will also arrange things outside of work which you are always welcome to attend and get involved with.
