  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?

    • I found the work interesting and enjoyed the working environment as everyone was really welcoming.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?

    • All colleagues I worked with were appreciative of the work I did and were understanding when there was something I didn't know.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?

    • My team, deskmates and manager were always supportive and happy to answer any questions I had and to explain different areas of the work I was encountering to give me a better understanding of the business.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?

    • Towards the beginning and end of the internship I found I had less work. This seemed to be typical for a lot of my colleagues (in the last 2 weeks) as when I asked around to see if anybody had any jobs to send my way, most people said they were also quiet and not too busy. People did however make an effort to find me work when I sent an email around letting the team know I didn't have much lined up for the next few days. From week 3-6 there was plenty to do and I was kept busy which I preferred.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?

    • I felt I was given an appropriate level of responsibility. I spent most days doing individual calculations for members. I experienced the type of work I would be doing as a grad while also feeling reassured that someone would be checking and reviewing my work before it was sent back to the client.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

    • Most of the technical knowledge I gained was specific to pensions which I don't think will be especially useful to me in university. I did however learn what it's like to work in a large company and with a team which will most definitely stand to me in the future.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?

    • There was a great atmosphere. Everybody was very inviting and friendly.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?

    • It was well organised. There were days when I had quite little work to do, but my entire team seemed not to be too busy so it wasn't as case of work not being allocated to me. The training at the start of the internship was well organised and gave me the introduction I needed before starting to do work.

    • We received training at the start of the internship which gave us the knowledge we needed to start doing work.

    • It is a company that I would seriously consider working at in the future.

    • Yes, a number of social events were organised during the internship.

    • Yes, we had a volunteering day and a few social events were organised for after work too.
