    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The other interns were really nice, it was good and fun to work with them. Working in a professional environment was a first and thus a very useful experience. Also, it improved my technical skills a lot while working for the company as there was something new to learn every day.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • As said before, the other interns were really nice and I think everyone could learn something from another person. We could also approach anyone for help at the company, especially our mentors helped a lot and we could learn a lot from them. And since they have been working in the industry for years, we know their comments/advice are really valuable.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Our mentors helped a lot and we could learn a lot from them, also other senior people were open to our comments and queries and the workshops we had were really informative and useful. At the beggining, they mainly gave us guidance to the professional standards but also to things we didn't see before and this happened throughout the internship.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • We were busy most of the times, at the beginning, it was a bit difficult to bring everyone to the same level which caused some difficulties to keep everyone busy. Also, sometimes we were blocked by depending on other's work but that improved a lot by the end when we got a better understanding of the tasks.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • We were given on a real life project so I guess more than I expected. Obviously, this was not the company's top priority project but by the meetings we had I felt we actually contributed to something worthwhile and senior people appreciated what we did and we were not just there for the sake of it.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I improved a lot in coding because of having to do it for 8 weeks straight. I got to do things that I have never before and also improve the skills I had before but to a more professional level. I think these will come really handy at future jobs and at uni.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere was really nice, the other interns were kind and we could gel really well after a few days. The company also helped in this by organising a few outside of work events. Also, I noticed senior people also really enjoy working here which is really appealing to me.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • 3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The fact that they gave us a mentor for every two people means that they really wanted us to feel free to ask them at anytime without having to wait too much for their response. Also we had a few workshops and a lot of feedback to many aspects of our work which also made us develop.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • They are really appealing, the working environment and the people were really nice. The company is trying to put you into an area which you enjoy working in. Also, the starting salary and the graduate scheme are really good. The company is also very well known and thus gives a good boost for future jobs.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • 3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The room I rented was 3 kms away from the office and cost 550 pounds per month. The area was really nice although there were not a lot of things to do but London and Brighton were quite close so if I really wanted to, I could go to one of these cities.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • 3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
