The Role
I really enjoyed my placement and was given interesting and exciting projects to work on, and treated as a valued member of the team and not just as an intern.
I was trusted to work on my own iniative a lot of the time, and my opinion was valued and taken without question or double checking. I was trusted that the projects that I worked on, I worked on to the best of my ability and therefore they did not need to worry about double checking everything I did.
Everything I learnt and experienced during my placement has helped my in subsequent work and will help with my future jobs as well.
The Company
Everyone was lovely and very friendly, and it never felt like a really restrictive office. Yet people worked hard and there was an air of friendly professionalism in the office which I loved.
A lot of what I worked on within the team was for future projects for the charity's event programme.
Subsidised Canteen
I would love the work here again...just waiting for a job to come up!
The Culture
There was a good social scene amongst those who worked in my office, and we all had lunch together and went out for drinks after work.
As an unpaid intern, commuting 1 3/4hrs in and out every day I didn't have much time or money for socialising. London is an expensive place when you have no money but for those living in London it was easier.
There was quite a few nice bars around, and its only a 15min walk down to Oxford Street, 20mins to Soho and Camden.
I volunteered at the Bobby Moore Sports Ball and street collecting for BCAM
