    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Working in a smaller office really helped to build relationships and have a more enjoyable experience and always having support for the work i was doing helped to stop the work feeling overwhelming and made it a comfortable environment to learn and develop in which in turn made the experience more enjoyable

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • working closely in small teams really helped to show you how your work impacted others which made you feel valued, seeing how the way you conducted your work would have a knock on effect later on in the audit process really helped to make you feel like the work you were doing mattered

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Having Matty Lambert as my career coach gave me such an approachable and accessible point of support and working with Sam and Murph gave me great guidance and coaching to develop my skills and I learnt more from them in my time here than i ever couldve expected, the feedback i received from my colleagues was also very useful and supportive

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I never found myself struggling to find work and at times it might have felt like i was really busy but i was always given enough time to complete my work

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was lucky to be given my own areas to focus on in an execute phase of an audit which made me feel responsible for the work i was doing, responding to coaching notes and being asked questions directly relating to your work helped to enhance this feeling of responsibility

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • improving my concise documenting skills will help me with my essay writing ability and the independence i have gained from this experience will make me a more motivated individual throughout the remainder of my degree

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in my office was better than i ever could have imagined, everyone was so friendly and welcoming. the hot desk system makes it fun and enjoyable to sit and work next to different people each day and there was a great social side to working in the Newcastle office as well- sports day was definitely a highlight!!

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The induction could have been more organised at times but i felt like once i got into the office i knew i always had people around me that i could ask questions to and they would help me to understand what was going on and what i was supposed to be doing

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I think being trusted with laptops and phones helped us to always have access to resources which we could use to improve our understanding and develop our skills. unfortunately because of the short time we had here it was difficult to develop and utilise the training opportunities that were available more.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I have been offered a graduate role and within that position i would be put through college tuition and my ACCA accounting qualifications. this would help me to develop and progress in my career and it definitely makes the prospect of working here in the near future more appealing to me.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • having such a small intake of interns was good as we all got to know each other very well and very quickly. it helped to feel a good sense of teamwork and it was always nice to know that you had a network of people who were going through the same things as you.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • the cost of living was very affordable and socialising was also very affordable

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • there are always night outs available for every night of the week so you always have plenty of choice

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • there was always some sort of social event happening outside of work hours, whether it was social drinks or a full on sports day. we were made to feel welcomed and included and these social events were such a brilliant way to get to know everyone in your office regardless of rank or sector.
