    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • PwC put a lot of effort in to making you feel welcome right from the outset. Every team I worked with would always take an interest in your background and were always keen to help you carry out the work you had been set.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everyone around you is keen to make sure that you're OK and understand what you are doing. The work you are set has a direct part to play in the overall audit and so that instantly makes you feel a part of the team and instantly valued.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Throughout my time supervisors and fellow team members were keen to make sure you understood what you were doing and all were happy to take out of their day to help you with what you are doing.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The balance is usually just right, each day was different but I found that when on client sites you could easily stay an extra hour without really noticing. Definitely wasn't overworked and the busiest times were when extra social events were put on by PwC for all to attend.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I think I was given a lot more responsibility than I was expecting but that was definitely a perk! You still have the chance to work flexibly at times but its difficult to do work at home if you don't fully know what you're doing, so don't be thinking you can work from home often/at all.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Juggling multiple tasks at once is definitely something you'll have to do during an internship and so this is a skill I've started to develop whilst here. Talking to clients, has also taught me how to develop strong working relationships quickly.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in the office is really relaxed which I think is helped by having the dress for your day dress code, which instantly makes you feel more relaxed. It's also difficult to tell who is most senior as everyone regardless of title is keen to talk if you're nearby.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Really well organised, the first week included a residential with all the interns which was by far the best part of the experience as you got to network with interns from across the UK. You can also access your schedule from your laptop the moment you get it, which means you can see where you'll be for the duration of the internship which gets rid of the uncertainty that usually comes with a new job.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They put on a residential on the first 3 days of the internship, which comprised of team building exercises for the majority of the first day. The rest of the residential is training in your line of service, so that you arrive at the office with a good foundation of knowledge.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • A job offer can be given for once you graduate university, if the feedback you obtain from those you work for shows that you would fit in well at PwC and have the ability to carry out the job well after full training. You don't have to be fully clued up before you arrive, just have to show that you would be good at it after training.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The residential provided a great starting place to allow all the interns to meet each other and develop friendships as you're all in a hotel and away from home which encourages everyone to try and get to know others. Free drinks were also provided, which made socialising much easier, as you can't say no to a free drink!!

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Cost of living was OK in Manchester where I did my internship and is definitely affordable on the pay offered.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Manchester is fantastic for nightlife so there were no complaints in that department.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I heard about sports teams with weekly training and each team host social events after work to help everyone to get to know eachother.

    5/5
