The Role
I really wasn't expecting for the internship to be this fun, but at the beginning we had a 3-day induction event where we got to meet the other interns and some people from PwC as well as learn some applicable skills for our work area. So that was very enjoyable and acted as a good preparation for the actual internship. The actual internship was also very fun because the people were super friendly and you got given different projects depending on your preferences, so didn't have to be stuck on something you don't like doing.
I didn't feel like I was being treated like an intern at all: I got quite complex projects which led me to improve my skills massively and I was trusted with the work. I felt like during the meetings I could participate actively and my knowledge was useful and appreciated. Even if I was confused by some things, my colleagues were always willing to spend their time on helping me.
So we were allocated a buddy and a career coach. My buddy was very useful as he was my point of contact for any questions or concerns that I had and became a good friend of my in general. He helped me find projects to join and offered good advise and feedback. My career coach did not get that involved, but also helped with answering some of the main questions that I had.
I only had two days where I wasn't really doing any significant work and was watching some tutorials to improve my software skills. Other than that, I was always involved in some projects and I would have a few meetings each day, so I would do something new each day which was quite exciting
It depended on a project I was working on, but generally I felt trusted and got quite a lot of responsibility. Obviously, to get an increasing amount of responsibility, you should demonstrate that you can handle it by working well and producing good results on each of the projects which is not very difficult as the expectations for a new joiner are not especially high
I don't think the work I've done up to now is very applicable to my degree, but I know there are some projects which involve using R and Python which would have helped with my degree a lot (I study Maths). However, I feel like the skills developed will definitely be useful in my future career.
The Company
The inside of the office does not even look like an office but rather like a giant living room which makes you feel more at ease. Also, the people are really friendly, and it helps that you're usually sat with a few people at the same table as then you can always discuss or get help if you have any questions
As I already mentioned, we are assigned career coaches, however I was not assigned mine until 3 weeks after the start of the internship which was quite stressful as career coaches are the ones to decide whether you get a graduate offer or not. Other than that, it seemed quite well structured
We had access to an online learning platform where we could continuously improve our skills. Moreover, if I ever had any questions, the people in my team were always ready to help and explain the things I did not understand. Most of the people join PwC without having any specific-to-the-area knowledge, so everyone is keen on helping you learn everything that you need.

The Culture
There was only one other intern in my area and we did get on really well and sometimes hung out together after work even though we did not get to work on any of the projects together. However, I pretty much did not see any of the other interns as the office is very big and they sat on different floors
I worked in London, so it was very costly compared to other locations because renting a flat was already quite expensive, and the office was in the centre, so the flat would be a bit further away which also meant investing in transportation. Most of the socials involved going to a pub which is also very expensive in London.
Depending on the project you work on, your team might organise more socials. In my office, there were two projects where teams would constantly organise BBQs, going to a pub or something similar to that. I wasn't really involved in their work, so if I felt like doing something I would just suggest to my colleagues and usually they would be up for it.
