The Role
This internship was great and provided me with a real experience in the cyber security industry. I was given tasks and worked on engagements with the team. The emphasis was put on this internship being a valuable and fun learning experience.
I got along very well with my colleagues who very early on made me feel part of the team. They were always very supportive and valued my work by also giving me credits for it.
At PwC you are being assigned a buddy as well as a coach who both help you with your internship and day to day queries you might have. Additionally, other team members assisted me all throughout the internship and often offered to show me what they had been working on.
This can depend on each day but I would say I usually had a very good balance because I would be busy for the day but did not have to do any extra work after. Whenever I wouldn't have something to do I could just ask to shadow someone and my colleagues always made sure I was busy on something with them.
As this internship involved a lot of technical skills that I did not necessarily had, having not done training on it, I had to shadow people until I became more comfortable. Nonetheless, I was also being given tasks to handle on my own and as time went on in the internship I became more and more independent.
This internship has definitely improved my coding skills and just general comfort with using certain software. It also gave me an insight on a very interesting industry which does have an impact on the area of my studies. This internship helped me design what I want to do in my studies from now on and which area I might want to explore.
The Company
There was always a very fun atmosphere in the office. People meet up for coffee breaks, there usually is a big group of people heading all together for the lunch break etc. I would say it is a good balance between a studious environment but also a place where people come to each other for help and sometimes for a quick break.
I would say the overall internship was really well set out. It gave us plenty of opportunities for development and also for meeting people. We got to see a lot of different parts of the business and were encouraged to actively participate. We also had a lot of support available.
The company had a 3 days training induction at the beginning of the internship. It was very useful to mainly get into the PwC values and meet all the other interns as well as understanding the broad business meaning of our work. I wished it would have been a bit more specific to our line of service such that I could have started the real training then. Otherwise, I got to shadow a lot of people from my team which helped me learn.

PwC demonstrated very good work values and I was struck by the work ethic they follow. I really enjoyed my time with them and would very much consider them as a company I would like to work for in the future. They empower their employee and give them a voice which I value a lot.
The Culture
The induction session really helped to form a good social scene amongst fellow interns as we got to participate to activities together. There was also a good atmosphere in the office as weekly socials were organised and teams would eat altogether for lunch. Group chat channels were also set up.
London is a pricey city and Embankment is quite central so the cost of the tube and food need to be take into account. I usually brought food to work to save money but they are a lot of places around the office where you can get lunch for 5-6 pounds I reckon.
The office is in central London thus it is very close to a lot of bars, pubs or clubs. It is also located near a tube station with various lines so you can get anywhere really close. The office is notably close to a very famous club in London called Heaven.
Teams organised socials either events inside the office or outside. They were also drinks organised for outside of the office to celebrate promotions.
