    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my internship at PwC. Having a background that is not in Audit, I was nervous that I would struggle with the work, but I was taught everything that I needed to know, and learnt a lot on the job. The team I was allocated to were absolutely lovely and welcomed me to PwC.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt very valued by my colleagues, and they treated me as if I was a full-time member of the team. I was invited to multiple social events with my team, and even attended the client half-year afternoon activity and dinner which was a great opportunity to bond with everyone.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given a lot of support by both my manager, and by the senior associate that I was working with on my team. I was also given support from my 'Buddy' and Career Coach. They were happy to answer any questions that I had and were always checking up on my during my Internship.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was busy on a daily basis, but not too an unachievable level. As an Intern, I was never expected to work overtime, but just the 7.5 hours. I was given lots of tasks, and always made sure that I was being utilised by asking for more work to do if I ran out.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility during my Internship, which meant that I was able to learn a lot on the job. I worked on one project with a senior associate and was often given the responsibility of engaging with the client and arranging meetings with them, as well as the SDC.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • As I study Geography at University, the skills that I have learnt will not be used directly. However, the organisation, time management and analytical skills will all be used indirectly in my studies. I will definitely use the skills I have developed in any job that I do, as they are very transferable.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere was great in the office. It is a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere, and I like how everyone hot seats, so you can always be sitting next to someone new. There are plenty of socials and events to attend for people to have fun together outside of work.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The Internship was very well organised as we had a very detailed induction in the first 3 days of the programme. They briefed us on what to expect for the whole internship and sent us weekly emails to check how we were doing and to tell us the next steps.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I felt like the company invested a lot of time into me. I completed various online training programmes, which provided me with many certificates and enabled me to gain a proper understanding of the business unit. My team were always happy and encouraging me to complete training courses in order to improve my personal development.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes there was a great social scene with my team members. We had a drinks social every wednesday and I attended the client half year dinner. There was also a great social scene with the other Interns. We met up frequently for lunch, and also met up at the weekends for drinks.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost of living and socialising with expensive near the office, however, the salary is high so it is worth the price. I loved living in London and can't wait to move back here again for the graduate programme. Socialising is expensive in the centre of London, but it is worth it.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife was great in the centre of London. Outside of the PwC office, there is an area called 'The Scoop' which has many events happening which are all free to go to - a great one on Friday evenings is called 'Massaoke'. It was expensive but great fun being in London.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes there were lots of opportunities to get involved in activities and many social events. Our team had drinks socials every wednesday and I attended a client dinner. I know that a few interns had the time to get involved in some sporting activities such as badminton which they enjoyed.
