    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my placement year at intel corporation. The working environment was easy to settle into and everyone was very welcoming. I have enjoyed many aspects of working here, including working with a wide range of people from across the world, many team building activity days and also volunteering in the wider community.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My team members were always good at showing appreciation for my work and communicated this well to me throughout the year. They constantly expressed their support and gratitude to me. This made me feel really valued in the workplace and gave me a lot of motivation to do better as the year went on.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given consistent support throughout my placement year. I had regular one to one meetings with my manager and team members, where they gave me advice and guidance on projects I was working on and answered any questions I had. I really valued this support and appreciate the time they had for me.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • As my job was project based, this meant there were intermittent times where I had spare bandwidth to get involved with other activities such as volunteering. I did not have daily tasks to carry out, however I worked on multiple projects at a time so this increased my work load whilst regularly attended meetings everyday.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility over my placement year. I was responsible for a project where I worked independently from my team. My team ensured they supported me throughout and this helped my confidence grow and showed me that I am capable of delivering projects working with people across three different time zones.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I attended many different training sessions throughout my placement year which will help me to succeed in my final year at university. My team also paid for me to attend extra agile training which provided me with valuable knowledge for my future career and also a verified certification. This developed my skills immensely and will help me with my final year modules.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere in the office was up beat, everyone was really approachable and friendly. They work to an open door policy and this makes you feel really comfortable in the office. I was lucky enough to work in a team where the majority of them were in the office everyday, meaning that we had a good working relationship.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was a real sense of community within the team I worked in and also between all the interns. We had quarterly team do's and team building days where you could get to know your team better. There were also many different extra events ran by interns for all the interns throughout the year.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost of living was quite reasonable, especially living in shared accommodation with other interns. Shared accommodation was also easy to find in the area. Socially the cost was also quite really good, which enabled you to go out socially with colleagues a lot and socialize outside of work which was good.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There are many different types of bars, clubs and extra activities to do here. It was always busy with your fellow interns and colleagues. Activities such as mini golf, go karting and bowling are on your doorstep so it was easy to plan evenings and social nights out which was good.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes there were lots of opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work. Volunteering in the local community was one activity which many people took part in. There was also the opportunity to play for local and work sport teams. They have a sports and social club where they advertise activities on a regular basis.
