    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Really enjoyable insight into Powered HR, found that it gave me a proper look into what the job would actually be like. The team was super helpful and welcoming, I really enjoyed working with my colleagues. Each day was interesting. I am happy enough with this area, but feel like it might wear after a time, and am looking at other areas that may fit me better.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • The whole team made me feel very valued. This was achieved in the way they spoke to me, included me naturally in things and the feedback which they gave me. I felt seen for my good points and improvement points and felt like I was really contributing to the team.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • My Performance manager always made sure she was available to give guidance when I needed it. Additionally all team members were happy to give me calls to give insight and support into areas that I didn't fully understand. I felt supported in my work and a pre-project chat with my engagement manager meant I understood my role well.

    3/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I utelised features of programmes I use regularly and had no idea of these functions before my internship. I have a much better understanding of this area of the business and it will inform my decisions from now on. The support and guidance has given me confidence in my own problem solving abilities.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The project I was put on was well structured and I cannot fault the experience I have had. The Insight itself wasn't as organised as I expected, my buddy wasn't in my location, nobody knew they were meant to pick me up on my first day, and understanding how this insight rolls off into a grad scheme has been really difficult to get information on.

    3/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Everyone was relaxed while working and had good relationships with everyone else. The office was a pleasant place to work, and felt like a great place to grow. Everyone offered help and was happy to have chats with vacation scheme students which made us feel valued. In the we-work office I felt a lot happier vibes than the other KPMG offices.

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • By giving me the opportunity to be on this team the opportunity for development is superb. Mandatory training was given , but other training was naturally out the scope of a 4 week internship. Development of my programme skills was periodic but definitely advanced. The firm invested in me with human resources of team members who supported and helped me develop.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Absolutely. I understood how colleagues work together and how projects function. I understand how movement around the area works and how the grad scheme functions on a day to day reality level. I have a better idea of the good points and issue areas within a fulltime role at KPMG.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • As above: naturally by understanding these things i got a clearer idea of culture and how it influences how the company functions.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Vacation scheme, and for all the above reasons, very valuable.

    5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Or I will be once my expenses get counted and I get paid, but I have pay and expenses.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Anybody asked would help out and take time out of their day to give me an insight into their role. Across grades colleagues are extremely helpful and passionate about sharing the knowledge and insight they have, especially to lower grades. Networking events and socialisation opportunities were frequent and freely accessible.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • See as above, very similar question. Well supplied and useful.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • I heard a lot about volunteering opportunities. Also about local walking groups. Then also about schemes that are run by colleagues outside work hours such as IT's Her Future, a scheme supporting women in technology so successful it now has one fulltime staff. More recreational opportunities were discussed less, I didn't hear of much.

    3/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • It gives a very clear insight into one area, and broader insight can readily be gleaned from other colleagues and interns. I feel like the vacation scheme was time well spent and would recommend it to any friend looking to see what KPMG was like, or a career in this kind of area.
