    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • My time at Reed Recruitment has been eventful and momentous with a few ups and downs. I have gained a significant amount of knowledge throughout my 12 week internship in all aspects of admin, compliance and verbal communication that I now will take on to further employment and even education.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Working as part of a team was a struggle at first however the further into my internship I went the easier it was for me to assimilate into the already strong team. Other team members were also extremely welcoming and made me feel comfortable in my surroundings quickly.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager gave the best kind of guidance; by letting me figure everything out for myself, however, she did help when I needed it the most and if there were any things I may have made a mistake with she simply corrected me and made sure I understood how to respond better.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Most days consisted of a busy, fast paced work day however, there were days that we were very slow and struggled to work to our full potential. Most days were busy and when this was the case my team and I thrived.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I mostly focused on compliance during my internship, occasionally meeting briefly with candidates for registration. I was in constant contact with candidates and clients to make sure all compliance was fully up to date for the candidate either through phone or email, processing PVG's and DBS's; Occupational Health Requests and References.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have gained a significant amount of knowledge and confidence from working at Reed. It is a very communicative industry that requires a friendly and open personality to which helped me feel confident in talking to others and also with making the occasional mistake. I have also developed the art of quick and fast paced work that isn't flawed.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere within the office was lively and comfortable that when I had first started helped me in feeling relaxed in my surrounding. Now, at the end of my placement, I realise that there is an easy camaraderie within the office that helps even the candidates that come in feel at ease.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Everything was kept clean and tidy throughout my internship with no problematic hazards. The office manager, Linda was sure to keep the office on top form at all times. There were no restrictions to any of the work areas or other amenities that had full use. There were constant cleaners and garbage disposal which kept the office in great condition.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was given a hearty amount of training within my team that have given me the confidence for further employment and education however, because I was only on a 12 week internship I wasn't given any training from the company but on the contrary, I do feel that what I was given was enough for my role and position at the time.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 1/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I could see myself working with Reed again and in fact I will be working as a candidate for one of the consultants on a temp position whilst going to college 2 days a week. Reed is a great company that has amazing opportunities for people and to be part of it again would be a possibility in the future.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I was the only colleague that was going through the internship program at the time so the social atmosphere between the other colleagues and myself was something I had to get used to before being fully comfortable in my surroundings. Once I did however, I formed a good relationship with the others around me.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Being that the office is situated in the heart of the city the prices of living are pretty extreme and next to near impossible to get however, socialising is a casual occasion with a plethora of bars, pubs and restaurants scattered around the city centre that are always thriving with customers.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife is another big thing in the city, all days of the week there fails to be an empty space and during the weekends the city comes alive with people flitting to all the bars and pubs available. The city is the best place to be for the nightlife as you will not stray far from the next bar.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There weren't any activities that requested my presence at any point of my employment with Reed. It was never essential as the only things that the other consultants went to were client meetings.
