The Role
I really enjoyed my time at Air Products. I have definitely learnt many different aspects of engineering which I can take into my final year of uni.
My work colleagues were great to work with. They really appreciated the time and effort I put into many different projects. This allowed me to develop a really good relationship with them.
Support was brilliant throughout the year. There were situations were I really struggled to understand some things and processes. Anytime this occurred, I was able to go to my supervisor and ask for help which I was really grateful for.
Due to me being working in Operations, some days were very busy and some were quiet. This is very normal within this department. Most of the time I had a lot to do.
I was given huge responsibility throught the year. Not so much during the first few weeks. Although when I developed the responsibility increased.
As I stated in one of the questions before. I feel like I have learnt many different aspects of engineering. I study mechanical engineering but throught out the year I did lots of work in process engineering therefore, expanding my experience.
The Company
General atmosphere was very relaxed which I prefer. There was a lot of banter too which was good as it made the days easier and more enjoyable.
On my first days I was given my goals which I was expected to complete throughout the year.
Air Products put me through many different training courses. They also gave many different opportunities to travel to other plants to visit or do work.
Flexi Time
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Future employment is very appealing as the grad scheme with Air Products is really successful.
The Culture
Although I was the only placement student in my department, the other guys were very sociable.
Hull is very cheap to live.
Nightlife in Hull quite decent.
We did many different things like go karting, football tournaments and night out.
