    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Very much enjoyed the placement, helped me massively to understand the role of audit in our society and from day one you are put straight onto the job learning how to do it. The people are all very nice and welcoming too which helps you enjoy your day a lot more.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt valued because I was put straight onto the job and was given work which was used in an audit straight away, unlike work experience I have had in the past where my job was to make coffee's etc, everyone is helpful as well so if you have any trouble just ask the nearest person.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • A lot of guidance, I have had a 'buddy' and a performance manager, I meet with my buddy almost every day and I have a meeting with the performance manager once a week. On top of this everyone is helpful and will give you help regardless of if theyre on your team.

    3/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • It will not assist me in my degree, as I do an unrelated subject, however it has helped form my decision on what I would like to do in the future as I have very much enjoyed auditing and would like to do it in the future, especially for KPMG

    5/5

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • It was well structured, Day one you learnt about the firms values with all the other interns, and then day 2 you learnt about the ethics of the job and what you can and cant do, this in the form of online training and then youre put straight into auditing.

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere of the whole company is great, everyone gets on well and there is opportunities to go on socials with your team such as for meals and to sports events, everyone is smiling and its a very nice atmosphere to work in. Obviously everyone gets their work done but in a good way.

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm invested a lot, every intern was given a top of the range laptop with all expenses for travel to non home offices paid. There is a form with all the training KPMG hope to give you and it is an extensive list which gives good advice if followed.

    3/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • It has helped me massively with that, it is basically a full time job as you do the same job as all the other graduates and so it has helped me to decide that I would like to do this in the future for this firm, theres not a lot of experience better.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • 3/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • 3/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was paid an adequate amount for the 4 week vacation programme and also expenses such as, the lunch allowance in which you get some money off your lunch in the canteen or a set amount to spend when youre with a client, all travel which consisted of going to clients was expenses paid.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • 3/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The networking/social event opportunities were very good, there was a range of opportunities available to me during the internship, such as a social event just for the interns in which they went to an escape room and for a meal, and a social event for the audit team which consisted of cricket.

    3/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • 3/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would definitely recommend this insight to a friend, or anyone who is in any bit interested in accountancy/audit, it is great work experience and I couldn't recommend it enough. It has helped me to decide that I want to do it in the future and hence there couldn't be a better 'insight'.
