About You
We were given really interesting work and got to see two different practice groups. We also got talks from all the practice groups which were really helpful.
Everyone was so supportive and friendly during my time at DLA Piper. They would explain why I was doing the tasks I'd been set and how they would be using my work which was really encouraging.
Before every task that I was given someone would sit down and talk me through it and answer any questions I had. Everyone was keen to help and took an interest in the interns.
I gained some useful research skills and how to be more concise in my writing. I think the work I have done here will help me when I become a trainee.
The Company
Everything was very well structured and communication was good. I was impressed with how well the internship was carried out considering there was 100 interns around the country.
Everyone was really positive and friendly, from the interns to the partners. Everyone was enthusiastic and interested in the work you were being given, and were very inclusive.
We were taken down to London for a week where we met lots of different people from within the firm and had lots of presentations.
I got to see some of the work and ask the trainees how they have found working for the firm which was really useful.
We got a lot of presentations and information booklets which really helped. I got to see how the values are used in the day-to-day runnings of the firm.
I already knew I wanted to work in a law firm but it was very helpful in showing me what kind of law firm I wanted to work in and what culture suited me.
Everything Else
We were paid and reimbursed for any expenses such as food or travel. We were also given a £15 voucher for a coffee shop to take our trainee buddy to lunch to get to know them.
We have spent a lot of time networking and a lot of social events were organised for us to do this. The office also has a lounge where people who work in every area of the firm will eat lunch so that was a good place to mix with employees.
Lots of networking and social event opportunities, and lots of informal events with the trainees.
We heard about pro bono, volunteering and sporting opportunities.
I would highly recommend the internship. It gives you a great insight into the firm and everyone I've met has been so friendly.
