    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Very smart people and complex business problems creates a good learning environment. I was staffed on a live project from day one which helped me to learn the day to day basics of the execution of an investment banking transaction. Accessibility of the seniors and the positive work environment allows for accelerated learning.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues were generally interested in my background, studies, career path up to know. It was quite visible that they cared about me as a person whenever I approached them for a coffee chat or small talk they did their best to find the time for it to exchange thoughts.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The feedback received was always crisp, critical and constructive. I was thankful to see that the management and supervisors found the time to reflect on the work performed and provide constructive feedback to identify the strong and weak parts of the implementation allowing to transform weaknesses into strengths through iterations.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was quite busy on a daily basis from day one. I was staffed on a live deal and I worked on multiple workstreams across the ranks of seniority in the team. I attended phone calls with the client, internal meetings and reviewed multiple marketing materials with the current analysts and associates.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was quite busy on a daily basis from day one. I was staffed on a live deal and I worked on multiple workstreams, on my own. I not only was given responsibility on individual tasks, but also I was free in coming up with ideas how to present data on client presentations

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I discovered a whole new dimension of Microsoft office. All the shortcuts and productive ways to use whole suite of the office applications would have come handy had I known them during my studies. Furthermore, managing work streams and prioritization of tasks in a highly dynamic environment will help me strengthen my soft skills further.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It is very collegiate and pragmatic. You can clearly see that people are driven to contribute but things are not done to prove something to each other. Contrary to what it is expected of IB that people stay in the office and do facetime, we were encouraged to leave whenever our tasks were done and no immediate requests were expected from clients.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • From the day one I had a clear contact person on all fronts to clarify my questions and concerns about Citi and my internship. All information was communicated clearly and in a timely manner. When I was transferred to my desk I was staffed right away and hit the ground running with a live transaction.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • It is hard to provide an overaching comment for the whole organization with the limited interaction I had so far. But judging based on the welcome week training received on modelling, valuation and accounting, I can say that Citi takes training and development seriously and makes sure that the best trainers available are made available for the trainings.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised/Company Gym

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?

It is possible to work in any banking product vertical imaginable from private banking to corporate and investment banking in many of the countries Citi is present.
