    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I was part of the Technology division for the Spring internship. As a 18 year old, on my first proper work experience, I really enjoyed the program. We were given the chance to shadow different teams across the Technology division and we also had to complete a group project presentation. It's a great opportunity to network. If you do your best, you will be asked to come back for a summer internship or to complete an industrial placement. You are also paid during program (I think it's around 400 pounds per week from what I remember).

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • As soon as you start, you are given a pass to enter all goldman sachs buildings, you are given an email address and invited to plenty of networking events. so you start feeling like you actually belong there. We were also part of a group project, that is quite nerve-wracking as it is part of the decision progress when they choose whether to make you an offer or not

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • we were given a buddy on our first day. the buddy is a recent grad that is there to support us. this is very useful during the program, especially because everyone is so busy and it's nice to have an informal chat with colleagues sometimes. Some HR people were really nice and approachable as well.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • As my degree was non technical I tough I was going to be lost and it was all very scary. however, by performing well during the first two weeks you will be able to develop your skills, despite the short amount of time. the internship was useful when choosing my next steps.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • very well structured, maybe a bit too busy. you had no free time, always running from an event to another. Meeting so many people, talking to employees from different grades in an action packed 2 weeks is quite intense but everyone esle seemed fine with it. you are sent calendar invites but not given a laptop/phone so sometimes they can get lost

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The office is amazing in central London location, next to wonderful restaurants. It's the perfect experience for someone who wants to try out the corporate life and is keen to start early. The firm invests a lot in these events and makes sure that they are well structured and useful for them and for the attendees.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I think this was a huge investment from the firm. We had so many employees ready to answer any question we had for 2 weeks. We could schedule coffees with managing directors and have lunch with vice presidents. technical training was non-existent though but in 2 weeks you cant expect that

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • As soon as you start, you are given a pass to enter all the buildings, you are given an email address and invited to plenty of networking events. so you start feeling like you actually belong there. You also get to shadow so many employees, you become their colleague and they are ready to support you.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Despite the fact that we had no proper work to do, we could see what others would do in their everyday life (ie if they go for drinks, if they go gym during lunch time all together or not) so it was definitely good to learn more about company culture

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • it was very valuable especially because the insight shows not only how golman sachs is but also how other investment banks might be. if you do not like it then you will probably not like the others either. it is a personal choice in the end. I really enjoyed my time there

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • we were given a pre-paid card with our salary in it. pretty awesome for 2 weeks and less of a year of uni!

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • as mentioned before, we were invited to plenty of networking events. so you start feeling like you actually belong there. there were so many events sometimes you would end up double booking! I think that the program was probably designed with the idea of having students meeting with current employees

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • There were always loads of drinks and plenty of very chic food bites. everyone seemed happy to meet us and i felt very welcome. we had free breakfast every day as well! Only negative note is that sometimes it felt like you were forced to go to those events (ie one day i had to go home early to finish a coursework and it seemed like it was not appreciated by HR)

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • There are plenty of social groups and there is a gym but i am not aware of anything else.

    4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Definitely yes! AMazing experience to learn more about goldman sachs and great opportunity to get an offer for a summer internship or for an industrial placement! The office is amazing in central London location, next to wonderful restaurants. It's the perfect experience for someone who wants to try out the corporate life and is keen to start early. The firm invests a lot in these events and makes sure that they are well structured and useful for them and for the attendees.
