    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my internship. I felt welcomed and included in the office. Being given the freedom to do a few rotations with the development and new homes teams was a particular highlight as it allowed me to gather further experience in other sectors. I was also regularly set work and taken onto sites to gather a better understanding.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I definitely felt valued by my colleagues as they were really appreciative when I completed work for them and they were also very inclusive in day to day conversations etc. They set me numerous tasks through out my time here and tried to give me the best experience I could get.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was always given support and guidance from management and my supervisors as they were always chasing their colleagues for more work to give me. Also when I was given work but had some questions that I didn't understand, they were always willing to help and give me further guidance when needed.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • On a daily basis I was given a few tasks, however I did have moments where I didn't have anything to do. However, in these moments I went over to other departments to ask for any work that they could give to me. Overall I did definitely get given work but there were moments where I had nothing to do even after asking for work.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a fair amount of responsibility in the form of going through deeds, creating plans on GIS and attending client meetings. I was also responsible for market research where I was calling local estate agents to try and get some information out of them over the phone. I was happy to take on more throughout my internship.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I have developed will definitely be valuable in my degree but also for my future career. The legal side of the estates team helped me with gaining an understanding of how the law I am learning at uni is applicable. Also communication skills and the over all experience will definitely assist me beyond uni.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere in the office was good. At times people were quiet and it was a good environment to get lots of work done, however individuals were always welcoming to me if I wanted to discuss something with them. There was also some banter and fun moments during my stay.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The organisation of my internship seemed to be fairly relaxed and not fixed/ structured. In comparison to London I didn't have any tours but I was given the freedom to mingle with other teams which was really good. The department talks worked well when GoTo wasn't playing up and I felt like I received the same information as the London students.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I believe the company invested a lot of personal training and development. Everyone was very good at giving me advise and helping me when I needed It. They gave me the relevant training to work the GIS system and also the rest of the systems in which the office uses.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Sports and Social Club

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I am extremely keen to apply for the graduate jobs in September as I believe I fitted with how Savills work as a company. Getting this experience has driven me to try even harder to get on the graduate Scheme. I feel I have gained a really good feel as to how Savills works as a company in the regions but also in London as I spent a few days there over my internship.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • As I was in the Reading office I maybe didn't get as much social opportunities as the Interns in London. I was given the opportunity to mingle with the people in the office but there weren't any specific/ organised times like a networking drink where this could happen. There were also no other interns in the office at the same time as me.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost of socialising in Reading isn't really an issue. It isn't really cheap but its also not overly expensive. On average I probably spent around £10 a day, which I believe is acceptable as this also includes lunch and any excess travel costs. It is definitely cheaper than London by far.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I never experienced this, so I cant make any comments.

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I was only given the opportunity to spectate the Property Triathlon, I wasn't aware of any other activities I could have taken part in.
