    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I had an unforgettable year whilst on placement at Warner Bros. The company was the perfect fit for my first experience of the corporate world. Everyone I have directly worked with has been so encouraging and I have been presented with countless opportunities to further my personal and career development. I have also met numerous individuals through work who I now consider friends for life.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • From the first week of my internship I have felt hugely valued by my team. They ensured that I felt at ease and were extremely communicative throughout the entire process. I immediately felt part of the team and not just a student in disguise. I was always aware of my tasks and felt that I played a key contributing role to the success of the department.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My line manager has been incredibly supportive throughout my internship. Every week we had a meeting to discuss my progress with current projects and talk about upcoming tasks within the department. Therefore, I was always aware of what I had to do and where I could improve through constructive and helpful feedback.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Naturally, the project-based nature of the role dictated that there were fluctuations within the amounts of work on a daily basis. Some weeks I would be working on multiple projects whereas others I would be focusing on my day to day tasks. Nevertheless, my manager was always proactive to assure that there were projects to be working on even when the wider department was not necessarily busy.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • The responsibility I was given during my placement exceeded my expectations. I frequently would assist and lead my own sourcing projects, often playing a key role in internal/external stakeholder management. On many occasions I would be the main point of contact for the stakeholders, thus requiring me to be informed in an array of the department’s activities. Nevertheless, throughout the placement, the team offered consistent encouragement and were always there to help should I require.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Warner Bros. has a dedicated Learning and Development team who, throughout the placement, offered relevant and extremely applicable compulsory intern training sessions. I was able to develop important skills in key areas such as self-presentation, data analysis and CV writing. Furthermore, the work itself offered me invaluable experience of a corporate environment which I was able to apply to numerous theoretical concepts learned during my degree.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I would describe the general atmosphere in the office as relaxed and friendly, yet hardworking and professional. The open plan layout of the office facilitated a sociable environment, but I was equably comfortable to get my head down and work when required. I equally found this to be case around the entire office.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement was set up in a perfect manner. The intern specific training followed a structured narrative which enabled me to get the most out of my placement and benefit me for my career after university. I was able to gain key insights from business leaders throughout the organisation and the network of over 50 interns helped make cross-departmental tasks simple.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company clearly values the development of their staff. It particularly surprised me how much effort they placed in the training of the placement students, especially given that we are only there for a year. I attended many talks and training sessions that I really found gratifying and beneficial to my professional development.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Sports and Social Club

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Working from home

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Although Warner Brothers is a great organisation to work for, there is unfortunately no graduate scheme. Nevertheless, throughout the year I have met many permanent employees who started off as WB placement students. Ultimately, you have a foot in the door and are more likely to be considered for future roles if you apply.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The social scene was fantastic! With over fifty interns and apprentices there will always be someone willing to catch up or go out for a drink. I lived with five other interns which also helped to improve the social aspect of my life in London.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Living in London on a placement wage is inevitably difficult. The cost of living is extremely high and you have to be smart when socialising. Nevertheless, you are able to obtain student loans throughout the year to help manage the cost of living. Furthermore, you are always able to find bars and clubs that are cheap on certain nights.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Working in central London, the nightlife is brilliant. We are located close to Covent Garden, Shoreditch and Farringdon, which means there is plenty, in terms of nightlife, on offer post-work.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • During my year I was involved in many volunteering and sporting opportunities from the Centre Point Sleep Out to the Hackney Half Marathon and Warner Brothers football team. The company is very encouraging of additional activities.
