The Role
I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement with Warner Bros. It is definitely an exciting company and a dream for any film lover. You get to be involved with so many amazing projects and titles and feel like you really are contributing to the success of a campaign. The roles come with a lot of responsibilities and challenges, which means you are constantly pushed to better yourself and learn.
I felt valued and heard in my time, with my managers and colleagues often asking for my opinion and trusting me with important tasks. I have found incredible friends through some of my colleagues and feel very lucky to have met such passionate and lovely people to work for and with.
I have received useful guidance at every step and was treated as a full-time employee. The responsibilities I was given challenged me and allowed me to grow. The training I received was very helpful, with my managers always happy to answer questions and make sure I was comfortable with my tasks.
As my role is so dynamic and complex, there was a mixture of very busy and not so busy days. I would say 50% of my time throughout the year was spent in a perfect balance of busy/not busy, whilst the other half was a bit more challenging. This definitely taught me how to manage my time and work with multiple tight deadlines, whilst also showing me that sometimes you need to be proactive and search for tasks to help with yourself.
Warner Bros. are amazing at making their interns feel like full-time employees. I felt like I was given a lot of responsibility and trusted with important tasks all throughout my year. I feel very lucky that my year as an intern did not feel too "intern-like" and I can now point at big projects I helped with and feel proud of my involvement.
I can whole-heartedly say that the skills learnt during my placement year have helped shape me into a better, more confident, professional and capable individual. I am sure that I will take all of these experiences with me wherever I go next, both in my studies and in my career. It has been an amazing self-developing journey and I cannot recommend a placement year enough.
The Company
There were days and days. Sometimes, when working on big projects, the team gets very involved in the work and everybody does their bit to contribute to the final project. Some days can be stressful and dull - as it can in many jobs - and some days are really pleasant and fun. However, all throughout the year, my colleagues have always been there to support me.
My role was very clearly set up from years before my arrival. Previous interns had done the job before and helped the team in perfecting the way they deal with their interns. I was very pleasantly surprised at how organised my role and responsibilities were and this really helped when settling in!
Through various training and development session throughout the year, the interns get a lot of additional help. I have really enjoyed the personal and professional development classes, such as project management, networking or personal branding. I think Warner Bros. does a great job at creating a complete experience for its interns through these sessions.

Whilst I cannot speak for other departments, my department doesn't offer a graduate scheme for placement interns. With that being said, whilst there is no guarantee of a future job with the company, the team keep in touch with previous interns and have previously hired them in permanent roles following university.
The Culture
The social scene is great, especially if you are sociable and like being part of a big group of interns. The interns often throw parties, go out for drinks and events and have lunch together. My team colleagues also meet up for lunches occasionally and are always willing to have a chat.
With the office being located in Central London, prices are quite high. Whilst accommodation and travel costs use up the majority of an intern salary, there are of course cheaper options when it comes to lunches and outings. There is a lot of variety around the Holborn area, so you can tailor your spending to your liking.
Whilst I haven't personally chosen to go out that much during my placement year, the Central London area is obviously incredibly rich in terms of Nightlife. Interns often go out to various bars, and there are definitely a lot of options when it comes to choosing a club to spend your Saturday night in.
The company organised quite a few volunteering activities to get involved with over the year, so there is definitely something for everyone. Whilst there weren't any team building outings or anything of that sort, getting involved with causes and spending the day with your colleagues whilst volunteering was definitely a nice option.
