    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed the amount of responsibility that came with the placement. My opinion was valued and the work I did really did matter. There was also a great social life with the other interns and the employees. The company as a whole really encouraged personal development through classroom based training, talks and networking events.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Working in home entertainment, there's a real sense of community. Even though I was an intern, I really didn't feel like it. My opinions were valued and everyone was very welcoming when it came to new ideas. If I had an idea, it was valued and considered in the same respect as an employee that has been here for years.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • We used a CHAT process, my managers helped every step of the way. I had weekly catch ups with my team and also 1-2-1s that meant we could discuss anything we needed or wanted to. My line manager was very supportive and encouraged me to take on new projects and push myself.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • This placement is for someone who really wants to work. I have a lot to do, and it all matters. The busy job is something I enjoy but sometimes it can get extremely busy - especially at Christmas. I definitely found this more difficult at the start of the year but I've grow into the role over the year.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • If I didn't want the responsibility I could easily ask someone else in my team. My level of responsibility increased as the year went by. I took more responsibility in the areas I found most interesting, but I was guided the whole way through. I could always ask for a second opinion and it's respected that I would ask instead of approving something that later down the line we find out is wrong.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I'm definitely more organised! I've learnt how to prioritise my work and work effectively on projects. I've also developed my communication skills including presenting, emails, and in project management.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There's a good balance between getting on with work and having a laugh. If I fancy a chat at any point I can walk over to someone's desk. It's open plan office is really helpful with this!

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I felt guided all the way, there was a clear process in place for communication between myself and my line manager. The HR team gave a structured plan of different training opportunities that were available to us.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We took part in lots of different training sessions that helped with different areas. To name a few we did some 'presenting me' training, an mbti learning session, talks with different people in the company about skills, careers and the internship process.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • There are many old interns working for the company. It's company culture is great and makes you want to return.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • With 50 interns, we have had some great socials. The HR team organise both intern specific and company wide Christmas parties. There are premiers and special screenings. The intrn community organise a lot of events ourselves but we also get invited to lots of company events which is great!

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London prices are as expected. It's expensive in comparison to a different city, but for London prices are pretty average.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Working in London means you're never far from anywhere! There are loads of nice bars around the office and it's only a short walk to Covent Garden or Carnaby Street.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were lots of activities to take part in. We're encouraged to take charity days. I took part in the Sleep Out for Centre Point and also helped to level playgrounds at Coram's Field. We're also encouraged to attend screenings when we can and company wide events.
