The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my work placement. I have been offfered great experiences and exposure to a fast pace marketing environment. I also enjoyed the lifestyle of going to work, and then spending evenings to relax/ enjoy hobbies. I found the structure of placement wonderful because I enjoy being productive in the day, and then spending my evenings to do whatever I fancy without the guilt of not completing university work.
I feel very valued by my colleagues. My opinion is listened to and I feel very comfortable in my team. My boss made me feel valued by paying interest to my work projects, personal life and development. The rest of my team also paid great attention to my projects, offering help and support when needed.
Weekly catch up with my boss and other team members has allowed me to feel very support throughout my year. I feel like sometimes I could have done with extra support. However, in a busy workplace environment, sometimes team members don't have the time to sit down and focus on minor details. I feel like this was positivie learning, because I have learnt to be independent with my projects.
I feel like this varied day to day. I could be extremley busy, however sometimes less busy. There we moments when I felt overfaced with work levels and the feeling of stress would be present. However, on other occasions, I would feel very up to date and organised with my projects.
I was given a lot of responsibilities. I was expected to drive my own projects, manage my own timeline and priorities with the business objectives. This was a huge benefit to my placement. Every day I was responsible for driving my projects. There was no micro managemenr from my boss and team.
Massively! This experience has taught me what aspect I like, and dislike from a career in Marketing. I will use these discoveries when applying for jobs after university! At university I will use the strong marketing foundation knowledge I have gained from this placement year, and tranfer this into my studies.
The Company
Johnson & Johnson's work culture is amazing! All employees treat each other with respect! The general atmosphere in the office is definitely the best part about working for Johnson & Johnson. I have been encouraged to join in on CSR days with the team and use the on-sight facilities (e.g. gym). Everyone was very kind to me throughout my year.
Very well organised. When I first arrived my boss had a well structured induction that lasted a few months. I was given inductions to the products, the team, agencies and systems. Throughout the year my boss has continues to make sure I always had extremley worthwhile projects to work on.
They invested highly. I was given the chance to explore different job roles and visit different parts of the business. This was to give me the opportunity to understand what kind of career I would like in the future. The company also invested in my health, by offering sports facilties and gym membership

Very appealing. The workplace culture and credo focus makes Johnson & Johnson a very attractive employer. There are plenty of diverse roles, all within interesting business sectors. I believe Johnson & Johnson to be a great employer with great prospects
The Culture
I actually lived with other placement students. This was great becuase it meant I never felt lonely. I am also good friends with the other interns that I didn't live with. I also get on very well with the members in my team, which makes the environment very friendly and fun.
I lived in Reading. This isn't as cheap as some cities up north, however, this being said, it is cheaper than London. I found affordable accomdation that was within my budget. Drinks are more expensive in the south, however, day to day I don't find socialising in Reading overly expensive.
The nightlife in Reading has been ok for this year! It isn't my favourite city for a night out, however there are some nice bars and a couple of clubs! The city centre is quite small, so easy to get around! The ease of transport to London from Reading is a massive perk.
I joined a netball team, however this ended up being too far of a commute. I believe I could have join a team that was closer, however, I only found this out 7 months into my placement. Therefore there wasn't much point in joining so late into the year placement.
