    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my placement year at IBM, as I gained skills and an experience than you simply cannot learn through your studies. I was able to apply what I learnt at University into the real world and with the great support IBM provides, I was able to explore many different areas and opportunities.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Even as a placement student, you truly do feel as though you are part of a team and that the work you are doing is being valued.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I had weekly calls with my Task Manager, where we discussed my goals and how I would achieve them. You are also given an Early Professional Manager, who you can meet at any time to discuss any issues and where you discuss your progress every 3 months.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was fairly busy on a daily basis, where some days you had more to do than others. You are able to manage your time and if you feel your work load is getting too much, it simply something you discuss with your Task Manager or even if you dont have enough on.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given quite a lot of responsibility during my placement, being able to take the lead in my of my projects and also having the opportunity to create something yourself if you think it would facilitate the team.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have learnt to be a lot more confident during my placement which will help me later on in life. I have also been able to present and communicate better which will help me finish my degree. I am a lot more organised and flexible which is a skill required for any job or degree you do.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There were many events held for placement students to allow them to develop their skills and network. There was also many only courses and calls you could participate in to get badges and certificates in.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I was very much heavily involved in the team I was in and this allowed me to really understand how the company works and how their employees are treated. I never felt as though I was an intern as I was valued as a regular employee.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
