    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed it very much, the experience I gained was invaluable, the people I worked with were all so kind and fun to be around, the work was somewhat challenging but truly rewarding and came with full acknowledgement and praise. I have truly never been as happy as I am now in a work environment.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt valued at all times, my colleagues always checked on me and asked how I was and what I was up too if I needed help or assistance, they asked me to do tasks but only if I was free and able to do so and when I completed a task for them it was always followed by an acknowledgement and usually some thanks and comments that go on to explain how invaluable I was which made me feel good and happy to come to work everyday which is something I've not had previously.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The support system is completely unrivaled, if I could not get the support I needed from a colleague, a senior or my manager which was extremely rare due to the wealth of assistance, knowledge and emotional support they all possessed there was always someone one short phone call away to answer any queries I had.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There was always a task for me to do and the tasks were always well structured and planned, everything was placed into a plan for me that had daily, weekly and monthly jobs for myself to complete which I enjoyed thoroughly because I am a meticulous and organised person in nature, but I never once felt overwhelmed and any additional task brought up were always checked to ensure I could handle it before leaving me to take responsibility.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I felt I was an integral part of a well oiled machine, it truly felt as though no one person was valued anymore than another, I had plenty of jobs that were my responsibility to keep on top of and track but so did each team member and if one fell the others rallied to pick them up and keep everyone on track and progressing. I had enough responsibility to keep me occupied and happy but not so much that I could cause issues should I fall behind.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I actually was not in any format of studies while working at Reed but the skills and assistance I got while working here have exponentially increased my administrative skills and given me a new found confidence with the sector. I believe that the internship was the perfect rung of the ladder to get me into a permanent and stable administrative role of my own.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The office was shared between 3 different Reed departments and we all gelled perfectly together. While working someone was always happily chatting with another or offering to make food or drinks for the office, people were always chirpy and happy to help even if it was not their department or necessarily their job to help.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The Organisation of my placement was absolutely faultless, I was taken in for a registration, I was interviewed and offered the job, I took it, appeared on Monday and was trained by my manager, met my regional manager and then all support and training was done on the job and through the internship department.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company took a fairly big risk on me and were happy to give me all the time they had spare to tutor me on how to be a better candidate, employee and interviewee. If it wasn't my local office helping me develop it was the reception I recieved from the training and internship department as they provided me with all manner of training documents, help guides and email support. The internal intranet of support pages were completely invaluable and made clear that Reed want each employee to develop.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I have not been offered any permanent placement with Reed but I have had the internship extended due to my service and skills, I truly enjoy working here and if someone was to offer me a job I would jump at the chance unfortunately my situation requires a little more financial help and unfortunately I don't think I could work here on that basis. The work, the people and the company are all amazing I have never been happier at work.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was an overly active social scene among all colleagues, there were many people working within Reed and of all different ages but there were no divides, gaps or awkwardness all people were welcome and happy to converse and go out with each other truly a social group and very welcoming.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Cost of living for myself personally is fairly low and attainable for myself and my partner, and the socializing cost all depended on how often you did it and where you went but the gems that we were aware of were all really cheap and very fun. Each weekend could always been a new experience due to the variety.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I am not really one for Nightlife honestly but from past experience and the feedback I've gotten from friends and family it;s always really lively in the town, there are a plenty of bars to hang out in from mid day to the evening and then plenty of clubs for late night fun.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Unfortunately I am unaware of any out of work activities I am fairly an introverted person so I can't really comment.
