    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed the insight, especially when comparing it to other insights that I attended I found it to be the best, with the chance to socialise in a new network of other students and also employees. It provided the perfect amount of presentations to work shadowing, something that other insights did not do.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • At BAML every single member of staff I met gave a great face for the company, they seemed to genuinely care about you and your career goals. There were also clear investments made into the insight, with BAML providing breakfast and lunch whilst we were there. It was made clear that they valued our time.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • The staff were more helpful than I could have imagined, they were not only extremely insightful but they were honest. When I was asking questions they provided sincere answers that I could tell were given in my best intention, and not to convince me to work at BAML. Even when speaking to people who were aware I wasn't intended on working in their division, they still had the time to speak to me.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Although what I learnt may not be applied to my degree studies, I feel that the networking skills and inside knowledge into the industry will be extremely helpful in future interviews and working environments. There is an extent to what you can learn in 5 days but I feel that BAML utilised that time the best they could.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight had a great structure, I felt there was a perfect balance of presentations and work shadowing. On other insights there were way too many presentations and it was boring. I found that doing 2 different divisional focused days was really helpful as I ended up choosing the division that I initially didn't plan on doing.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • I found the general atmosphere very welcoming and friendly. I was surprised as I thought it would be quite competitive and intimidating, however it was the opposite of this. Everyone on the spring week was really nice and all the staff were beyond kind and genuinely interested in you as an individual.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The investment that BAML provided was beyond what I had expected. We were provided with valuable time in each division where we could see how the business got to operate. They also took the time out of a number of workers' days to hold panels with a huge variety of different divisional representatives.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • After the spring week I knew that I fit in with the culture of BAML and that it was definitely somewhere that I would like to work in the future. It definitely inspired me to think more about what I want to do post uni and provided the correct information to help me decide what that may be.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • this was one of the best things about the BAML insight, as the culture was evident and consistent in every activity that we did. This was the most important factor in my decision to want to pursue a career at BAML and so, the company culture for me was crucial.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • As someone with not much idea on what they wanted to do and with limited knowledge of banking beyond my degree, I found it extremely helpful in showing the scope of jobs offered at the bank. I think even the most knowledgable people there who knew so much already about the banking industry were surprised at some of the jobs that were on offer.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • there were a number of networking opportunities both throughout the day and in the evening time. It was like one long week of networking constantly which was great to develop connections with those who could guide future career decision.s

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • For the most part I enjoyed the networking events. Unlike other insight weeks there was a good ratio of workers to spring interns and also a vast array of people across all divisions of the company and also people at different levels within these divisions. The wide number of people we were able to met gave a holistic view of BAML.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • yes when work shadowing the employee I was paired with informed me of the charitable activities she did on behalf of the bank and also sporting teams.

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I have already recommended this to a number of friends.
