    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Some parts were better than others. I enjoyed the networking meal a lot, the hotel room was really nice, lunch was provided, and the body language workshop by [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] was really insightful. However, no one I spoke to (bar one girl) expected the programme to be solely focussed on tax consultancy, since there was no programme description on the application page Instead, we were expecting an all-encompassing programme. That besides, some presentations were pretty dull, and I thought the vlog was a waste of time designed to provide Deloitte with free marketing material.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Well, we weren't doing any useful work for the company so I didn't feel valued in that respect. However, staff were friendly and we were well provided for.

    3/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • There wasn't much independent work so there wasn't really a need for guidance/support. However, we were informed about the application process for the summer vacation scheme (SVS).

    3/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • It was a two day programme, most of which was spent listening to presentations such as learning about their 'diversity' programme. A got a little bit of teamwork practice, however, but that hardly made a difference to my teamwork skills.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • It ran quite well. Would have been better had we known the agenda.

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Fair atmosphere. The group was friendly and I got a couple of laughs out of them all.

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I mean, [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] did the body language workshop. That's a fair investment right there.

    3/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Barely. We didn't see a single person (besides HR) actually working their normal job. We only played 1 tax game, which was the most insightful thing in terms of learning about the job of the whole programme.

    2/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Company culture now-a-days consists solely of 'diversity', 'equity' and 'inclusivity'; the devlish trio of leftist-intersectionality ideologues. No one was wearing a suit, and we weren't being assessed, so I gather that Deloitte is rather laid-back. However, we didn't observe anyone (besides HR) in action.

    2/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • More or less useless. However, I did determine that tax consultancy isn't for me; too restrictive and basic.

    2/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • (answered from future perspective) I believe reimbursement is up to £50 for day. Let's see if they reimburse my AirBnB or just travel.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Only within the tax division. Networked over lunch and dinner.

    3/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The meal was exquisite to be honest. Would have been better if the employees rotated so that we could have spoken with a wider range of people. That was the only formal social opportunity as it was only a short programme.

    3/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • I think they have a football team. They also have 'diversity' networks including faith networks. Not sure what else.

    3/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Only if he/she were interested in tax consultancy. Otherwise it wasn't that useful and I could have done with the extra two days to work on my uni work.

    3/5
