    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The parts where we got to engage with the Directors of Research was extremely insightful and informative. Loved the networking sessions as well. However, quite a lot of time was allocated for soft skills training which may not be too relevant for those who are interested in really just finding out about imvestment management or want to experience the role of an analyst.

    2/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • The HR reps were amazing, extremely accomodative. Every member of Fidelity who were present at the various sessions or networking events were extremely friendly and open to share about everything and anything.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • The project was very self-guided; but I believe this was the whole point - for you to be resourceful and for you to explore for yourself. We did receive feedback at the end of our presentations which was very helpful.

    4/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Information received was definitely invaluable; it helped guide what I want out of a career and made me think about the bigger picture which you don't normally do.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • It was well structured, but I feel that there was a lack of intensity. Also, too much time was allocated for soft skills training which probably wasn't the best use of time for such a short programme.

    3/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The energy by the Fidelity representatives was very positive, but the participants were more dull or lacked motivation (I believe this is because there was no added incentive of conversion if the participant performed well).

    3/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company invested a lot in soft skills training, but I feel that as a Spring Intern, you often would prefer job shadowing or experiencing working in the role rather than developing soft skills which could be done at university.

    2/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The conversations and panels were very honest and open which was very useful. We also received an in depth overview of our role by the respective Directors of Research which was extremely useful. However, this did not go beyond presentations or panels - job shadowing would have been very useful.

    4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Many members of Fidelity (including the CEO) at different stages of their career came to speak to us, and a sense of belonging, pride and purpose really resonates throughout.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • While we did not get to do job shadowing, the panels and talks did give a sufficient insight to enable me to decide on my future career path.

    4/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Not paid, but all expenses fully reimbursed. Non-Londoners got a very nice residence and food (breakfast, lunch and tea) was served everyday - the food was really good.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were plenty of opportunities and we were exposed to all divisions of the firm which recruited graduates. For divisions which did not recruit graduates, we got to meet employees if we requested so that was great too!

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The networking session on the first day was great. I definitely over stayed my welcome, but the employees who came to the event were so passionate about their work that none of us realised the time.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes! We even got a panel on the Fidelity4All programme which really tries to unite the firm and promote diversity.

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • It was definitely great to meet the people and get a feel of Fidelity, but this is only to the extent of speeches and panels. If you're looking for a relaxing week to get to know the industry and learn more about the role then this is the insight for you. If you are looking for a real challenge and feel for the work of a graduate at a firm then perhaps not this insight.
