    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • It was a very comprehensive overview of both IBD and Global Markets (Front office divisions), but it also gave leeway to exploring the other opportunities available at the bank.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • There are a lot of opportunities for you to network with different attendees and the employees at the firm.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • There were a lot of tailored made training sessions, not limited to just finance for non finance courses, but also for personal branding and presentation skils.

    4/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I study law but as an aspiring commercial solicitor, I know that the knowledge gained from the finance courses will certainly help with building my commercial awareness.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Very well structured- they provide a schedule with timings for the whole week on the first day of the scheme.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Very friendly, but owing to the other schemes happening at the same time, the networking sessions can end up rather loud and packed.

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They provided multiple comprehensive training courses tailored to developing each individual's set of skills.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • They provided ample 'day in a life of' presentations for different employees and guided trading floor tours. There were a variety of different representatives, from both front and back office divisions who explained their roles in the form of both scheduled presentations, Q&A panels as well as during more informal networking events.

    4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • There was a lot of mention of culture in the presentations, and there was the opportunity to experience this first hand by taking on the trade floor tours. However, this is to be taken with a grain of salt because the scheme was only a week, so it may not be entirely representative.

    4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Very helpful- opened up opportunities that I have not previously considered applying to. However, owing to my particular situation, attending this scheme as confirmed for me that I will be pursuing a legal career first, but with the possibility of transitioning later into finance down the line- the HR managers provided some advice on this matter.

    5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • For a spring scheme, JP Morgan provided hotel accommodation for those who needed it, but that of course did not extend to those who were already living in central London. There were no transportation reimbursements for those living in London, but the scheme was nevertheless worth attending for the training and experiences.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Yes, a careers fair networking session, lunch and afternoon tea networking sessions. During these sessions, there were opportunities to receive contact details from various employees, and analysts would be present at the risk simulation and life cycle of a trade activities to provide guidance and to answer any questions about their work.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Provided adequate time to speak to multiple representatives, but could perhaps be a little longer so people had more time to eat. There was a social organised for the attendees of the different schemes to come together in a relaxed and informal environment to network, and you had the opportunity to stay for as long as it suited.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes, there was a BRG group and resources presentation on the first day.

    4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Yes
