    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I enjoyed the insight so much! It was so useful to see what the day in the like of a trainee is actually like, plus the trainer I was shadowing was so lovely and answered all the questions I had! The ADR and corporate workshops were also very enjoyable and interactive!

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Very valued. Everyone was so friendly and always open to answering my questions! My trainee I was shadowing was so lovely and allowed us to have a go at some due diligence on a case they were currently working on in the corporate department. All the partners, graduate recruitment team were amazing and very friendly.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Lots of support and guidance! All the partners, associates, trainees and graduate recruitment team were so friendly and helpful and answered all the questions I had! If I was unsure about something, they would also make sure I was ok with what was happening! They catered very well for non law students as well with less legal knowledge.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learnt so much from the insight scheme. Before the scheme I had no idea what due diligence was or ADR, but I came away with extensive knowledge on it, which I can take back to my studies. Also I feel my communication and confidence skills developed through all the networking events

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Very well structured. As soon as we got there we were given a booklet explaining what would happen over the next few days. Everything always stuck to time limit and was engaging right from the start. The hotel was very well organised and would like to say thank you so much for that!

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Great atmosphere from all involved. All the students were very friendly, as well as all the staff! I felt very welcomed by all and would love to visit HSF again soon. Lunch was great to network with the trainees and partners, although it was very chilled, I learnt a lot from it

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm was so great with investment. I felt like they cared about my development and personal training. From having a one on one shadowing afternoon with a trainee, this was a great way to experience what being a trainee actually entails. We had a variety of workshops and talks from partners which certainly helped to develop my skills.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Extremely well. We had a variety of talks and presentations from partners and associates. We also had a careers fair where we could go round each department talking to the partners/associates/trainees and get a feel for each of them! By also shadowing a trainee this was a great way to see what their usual day is

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Very valuable. It has certainly confirmed my interest in becoming a solicitor and definitely applying for future work experience with HSF such as vacation schemes and training contracts.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • The firm was so great with expenses. They covered my train fares which were almost £100 from Lincolnshire. They provided us with food for both days, exciting merch such as notebooks and also paid for a hotel for us all to stay in which I am very thankful for! Overall it was great!

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Lots of networking opportunities. On the first day we had a careers fair where we could talk to people from each department. In the evening we had a network social at the Boundary Project where we had the opportunity to chat to partners/associates and trainees at the firm which was very useful.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Amazing!! It certainly helped me to get to know everyone and even after 2 days we became such good friends who I felt I’d known for years! The network event at boundary was very useful, it was very chilled but great, I managed to get comnections with several people on linked in, who I can hopefully stay in touch with.

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes there are several activities they could get involved with. At the networking event I spoke to a trainee who was a part of the rugby team and also HSF supported her through her gym regime.
