    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I really enjoyed this spring week, I thought that the range of divisions and business areas they exposed us to helped us to develop a comprehensive understanding of the range of jobs available. Moreover, the use of workshops after sessions allowed us to put what we learnt into practice and in a group setting.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I generally felt quite valued during this spring week. The level of support we got from UBS was very good and they tried their best to treat us as potential summer interns. However, the only reason why it is not perfect is because we did not perform any actual work similar to summer interns.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • UBS was very good at providing support during the programme they had a range of speakers who came in to help during our group task. Moreover, the HR team was amazing at providing guidance for what we should be doing and how we should be doing it best. Overall, I was very happy with this.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I developed during this spring week is principally teamwork, independent research and commercial awareness within finance. I strongly believe that these skills will assist me in my studies and in the future; they are generally transferable skills that will be useful in any career. Moreover, the information I gained will help me choose which division I want to go into in the future.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The Talents Lab was excellently structured and thought out. Sessions included talks from speakers in a variety of divisions. Following these talks, a workshop may follow which built directly upon what we had just learnt and made us incorporate it in reality. The networking sessions run in the evening was a great way to meet new people in a casual setting.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere during Talents Lab was unparalleled; everyone was so friendly and easy to talk to. In addition to this, if there was something someone else was a bit more informed on they were more than happy to educate you. This lighthearted, friendly atmosphere was established by the HR team involved.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • In terms of personal training and development, this mainly took the form of helping us through providing more information about the roles. There was also a number of speakers who were part of the summer internship who could impart advice and knowledge onto us. However, it is understandable that they would not invest further into our development due to the short time period.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The spring week was really good at helping me to understand what it would be like to have a full time role within UBS. The speakers they brought in gave us a detailed description of their daily life at UBS and what activities they usually partook in. They also kept it real with what we would likely be exposed to if we were to work here.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The Talents Lab showed us what the company culture would be like and did their best to encompass us within it. The speaker they brought in told us the differences between the culture here and other banks and why they preferred it here. Moreover, those on the graduate programme were able to relate to us better and spoke directly into our perspective.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The contents of Talents Lab was amazing at providing information which will be helpful at deciding what career path suits you best. The range of speakers was able to tell us which type of people are more likely to succeed in which division and why that is. The HR team is also very well equipped to help you with this.
