    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I really enjoy it and it was way better than what I had expected, keeping in mind my expectations were already super high. We had a look into all 4 service lines in EY, especially the day-to-day aspect of the job and also the difference between the UKI business and FSO.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt really welcomed throughout the whole 2 days. The employees present were all very nice and open to chat with us. More often than not at other companies' events, I will feel intimidated by their employees, however I did not feel any of it during the whole event and this tells a lot of the culture of EY.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • We had a group mentor on each table throughout the 2 days, where they supported us in the challenges we had to solve and also clearing our doubts when we have any questions not only about the event itself but also their day-to-day work in EY. At no point of the whole event where I felt lost or didn't feel comfortable, which is a huge plus point from me.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • To me, there's always something new working in a group since that everyone is unique in their own ways. Everyone on the table had not met each other prior to this program, however we all got along really well whether it's the group activities or the socials. This has taught us to adapt better to a surrounding and also be more flexible which I can see myself implementing them around my university life.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • I can't think of any way to improve the structure of the 2 days. Everything was carried out and ended on time; we really feel that our time is appreciated by the firm. Also, we knew where we had to be at all times of the day and the speakers & panelists involved were all so interactive.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • It is a really fun and cheerful environment, very unlike the corporate stereotype that we always hear from our seniors. Also, upon hearing more about the company, I have in a way understood the importance of work hard play hard; usually it's one or the other but both of them actually complement each other.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I would say from the start to finish of the event. Although we are by no means employees of EY at the moment (hopefully that'll change soon), we were treated as we're one. The speakers and panelists have given us valuable insights on how we could improve ourselves, starting from university. We were also invited to sign up for various EY initiatives including EY Foundation.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Generally, you get the vibe of working in the firm after chatting with the people. From what I can tell, they really value the people working for them and they are always the number 1 priority for the company. I think this aspect is crucial in lifting the mood and motivation of the employees and therefore justifies why EY is where it's today.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Prior to joining the insight day, I was still undecided and less clear of which of the service lines I would be more interested in. I went in with an open mind and in the end, I've narrowed down my options. It does help a lot as although it's in the same company, the roles vary quite a lot and if you’re doing something you actually enjoy, you don't work a day in your life.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • The employees were ever present during the whole 2 days, not only from the HR department but also from all 4 of the service lines where they took time out from their day-to-day job to be there. They are always open for a chat and I've even kept in contact with some of them after the insight day.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • It was more of a chilled vibe. We had the socials at a restaurant/bar where besides the food and beverages, we got to play darts. The main part of it is we didn't only play among ourselves, but some of the employees took part in them too which truly signifies the culture of their company.

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • EY has tons of networks within their firm, including the EY Women's Network and various different sports. This is very eye-opening to me as I've personally never heard a firm that has so many different societies and it does in a way resonate to university where you get to play a sport or organise an activity with your mates and it's definitely easier to get to know people through such programs.
