  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I really enjoyed the savills insight programme. It was well planned and the activities were very informative, giving me both an insight to the culture and the work that savills does. It gave me an insight into the different parts of the company and what they did, and to see how different parts of the business come together.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills i developed and the knowledge i received has already assisted me in my degree. This is because one of my coursework investigation involved management within companies within the construction industry. Having met with one of the directors in the firm, i asked them how they motivate people in savills, they gave me an answer which i have adapted for my coursework. Additionally shaddowing my mentor on site i gained an understanding of how to act on site, and what to look for.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight programme was very well structured. The schedule was published in advance which allowed me to work out my plans for the week. Additionally different talks were scheduled which allowed me to see the different parts of savills. The insight programme was well scheduled as the talks were either at the beginning or end of the day, this allowed me to experience a real day in the office, and allowed me to go onto site almost every day.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was very good during the insight programme, my mentor was very good, and showed me around different parts of the firm. Everyone I spoke to at the firm from director to graduate was very friendly and seemed to really enjoy their work at savills. Whilst the atmosphere was productive it was also relaxed and anyone in the team was always very happy to help with any questions that I had.

  • The company invested in me as they gave me a mentor, this allowed me to ask any questions I had both about the firm and the work that they did. Additionally meetings were arranged with directors who took a personal interest in each of us, they also gave us advice for the future as how to reach such positions as they have. Additionally there were presentations on APC and on how to write a cv which will help me in the future.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Although I am on a building surveying course I did not realise that there were teams within savills specilising in the different parts of building surveying. This helped me realise my future career path as it showed that if i were offered a graduate position i would be able to try out each team on a rotation and then pick which team i preferred.
