    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The Insight Programme really helped me gain more of an understanding of the Building Surveying profession. Seeing the day to day processes and how different surveys are carried out was something I hadn’t really had much experience of during my first year at uni.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • During the week I was inundated with trips to various site visits with building surveyors, associates and directors so I felt valued within the team. Alongside this I had various informative talks with colleagues about different aspects to the job, aswell as an insight into the APC which was very helpful!

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • If I had any issues or questions I felt I could ask anyone within the team to help, the guidance and support was excellent.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learnt a lot of new things that I hadn’t previously known, experience in the working world will definitely help with my degree studies and any choices that I make.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Overall it was fantastic, we were given structured timetables and time to network with graduates and colleagues, however, the departmental live webinar talks were often missed when out on site visits so I couldn’t go back and relisten to the talks.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The team were great and despite them having a very busy week they managed to organise great social events during and after work.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I felt the team definitely invested a lot of time into showing me how things work. I was constantly on the go and always learning. I had lengthy chats with colleagues about my future and their reccommentations.

  • I was involved in a variety of different projects which really helped me understand which areas of work I prefer over others.

  • Any travel, food etc for the week was reimbursed (up to £100)


  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were great networking events from lunch meetings to evening drinks which was great fun.

  • The company do lots of networking/social events from sporting to informal evenings.

  • There are lots of organised sporting events and summer/winter activities to do in your spare time.
