    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I really enjoyed the internship as it was very varied and gave a very in-depth insight to the division I was interning in. The people, both interns and employees, were very friendly and helpful and there was always something to do which meant that I did not get bored once.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt really really valued during my internship. Many representatives from different teams gave up their time to speak about their day-to-day and the work they do. In addition, I was assigned a task which was going to be used and published so I felt I was doing valuable work.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I received a lot of support throughout the programme and received feedback frequently. The employees were also very helpful in guiding me if I needed something. I also received technical training throughout the programme to ensure that I was familiar with the financial concepts covered by employees in the different presentations.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have mainly developed my analytical, presentation and social skills as the different types of session encouraged me to go beyond my comfort zone. I hope these will help me with my undergraduate studies and I am sure they will definitely be useful when I complete further internships and eventually start working full time.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The programme was very very well structured. It consisted of presentations from different teams, interactive sessions, case studies and group project, which took most of the time. There was always something to do and I did not feel bored once. I really recommend this internship as it was a really fruitful way to spend my Easter vacation.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was very positive. Both the intern class and the employees were very friendly and very diverse which made it very easy to socialise with people and also made it a fun experience. Despite having a very busy schedule I had a really good time and enjoyed my time here.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm invested a lot in personal training and development. In terms of training we had technical training sessions on accounting fundamentals and valuation techniques, which made it a lot easier to talk about financial concepts with employees on the floor. The different networking sessions, group case studies and presentations enhanced my presentation skills.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Having spent two weeks at the firm, I feel I have good understanding of how the Investment Research team operates. Spending time on the desk working on my project allowed me to experience the pace of the job and the general environment in the company. Overall, it was a very positive experience.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The insight helped me understand the culture very well. Not only we received several presentations which emphasised the importance of the culture of the company, but I have also been able to experience first hand the flat structure and overall friendliness on the floor, which clearly resonated with what we were told.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The content of the internship was very helpful. I had many roundtables which allowed me to meet senior management as well as many teach-in sessions which helped me understand which sector I would like to specialise in. Overall, after the internship I feel really confident and I have a clear mind as to which division I would like to work in.
