    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I enjoyed and loved working for Savills, where I got a chance to meet different people in the real estate industry. this week has been very beneficial from me, not only to get away from the revision for a bit, but also the friends that I met on the programme.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Everyone working in Savills that I have met in the past week are very friendly. I have learnt a lot from them, not only from their feedback and reviews, but also from our time spending together during site visits. I have also learnt a lot from the departmental talks, realising the company is very well established and all rounded that provides such a wide range of services.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Apart from the support provided by my mentor, I also received help from other graduates or surveyors in the team. Everyone responds to email very quickly that my questions or issues always get solved immediately, they are all very willing to help and provide guidance if I experience any difficulties.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Having attended all the departmental talks provided by the programme, I get to know a bit more about the work in each sector. Also the networking events with directors from different department has been helpful to me, knowing exactly what is expected in each department and the way to achieve it in my degree.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • As every department has different work so it varies, depending on the mentor or team that you are in. In my opinion, I do think my insight is very well-structured and organised. I get to learn from the paper work, which is some legal leases that refresh my knowledge from Property Law. In the site visit, I get to involve with construction, building and a bit of cash flow, that Does bring in my knowledge from the rest of my degree into my work.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Everyone that I have met on the insight programme has a huge interest in real estate that has brought a great atmosphere in the insight. The eagerness to learn can be showed within the networking events, where we chatted to directors and graduates to find out how and why they chose Savills and their experiences here.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • As an insight student, I did not expect the chances to be involved in site visits or outings at all as I know their opportunity costs are very high. I also realised that Savills has invested quite a lot into students by providing insight week, summer internship and graduation schemes with rotations that their competitors did not have.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The insight has an opportunity for the graduate students to come in and talk us about their experiences that I think it is a great opportunity for us to learn more about their roles in the company, e.g. how long does it take for them to get promoted, how did they proceed to where they currently are. These sessions are very informative.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • I do think that working in the company for a week is the best way to find out about its culture and ethics. By watching and learning at the staffs' and the way that the act and work has been a very helpful way to see if I can fit in the company when I graduate.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Working here for a week has helped me to make my career decision to a certain extent. it has been a great opportunity to learn and work in a well established firm like Savills. Yet I would like to explore more before making my final decision for my future working pathway.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • So in this insight week, we get to reimbursed up to £100 for our expenses. I mainly spent mine on travelling as I commute daily from my accommodation to Savills. Apart from that, you can claim it back on food and other expenses you have spent during the week, except for alcoholic drinks.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • During this insight week, my networking skills has improved significantly, all thanks to the networking events and drinks that Savills held. We meet other students from different universities, studying similar courses on the first day. then we got a chance to meet the graduates and network with them in an evening, we got to learn more about their routines and daily life in Savills. Apart from that, we had an opportunity to network with directors from different department, from valuation to HR, a very valuable chance to ask all sort of questions to them in person.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Having all the chances to meet basically everyone in the company, from graduates to directors. I would say these networking events are very well organised by the HR, that are nicely served with drinks and snacks. So you get the chance to fill yourself and in the mean time, meet some new people to brighten up your future career.
