    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my Insight Week because it was really eye-opening, in terms I think it was a proper glimpse into the world of Development and the world of work as a whole. The Development team at the Birmingham branch has welcomed me with open arms and have ensured that I gain valuable knowledge and skills, which I can transfer into my own studies at university.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt valued significantly because I took ownership of the tasks I was given and I tried to complete these to the best of my abilities. The tasks weren't menial either, I felt as if the work I was doing could potentially be some of the work I will have to tackle later in my career.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I received a lot of guidance from many members of the team; whether it was a small chat in the lift at the end of the day or if it was a site visit, the Development team really went out of their way to impart knowledge that they had gained over the years. My mentor was especially helpful. He helped me a lot when it came to getting my around tasks or jobs I needed to do.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The knowledge I gained will honestly be very useful when I come to the next two years of my degree because doing genuine work in my industry will set me up in the future. For example, I did a lot of work surrounding ongoing developments and then seeing those developments in the flesh when on a site visit was interesting.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The Insight Week was structured well. The routine of 9 to 5 everyday is something which I'm very familiar with and a fan of so being exposed a strong structured lifestyle was refreshing. When I got to the office each day, there was always something for me to crack on with and there was always a plan of action for the day.

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was pleasant in the office; the members of the Development team have really good banter and it's clear that everyone gets along. The best part of the environment at Savills was the overall attitude of 'work hard, play hard'. Everyone has the same goal of getting the job done but enjoying the rewards at the end.

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They invested in me by giving tasks and trusting me to do the job well.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The Graduate members of the team provided the most insight into Savills because they are of a similar age and understand the great changes people have to go through when going from uni to work. It was made clear that work isn't and shouldn't be easy but can be very rewarding.

    3/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The company culture at Savills is a strong one because there is a lot of collaboration between departments, so therefore the members of the office have a strong bond and there is a great variety of relationships. Overall, the office has provided me with a healthy image of life at Savills.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I did not get paid for the work experience but that bother me because I took a lot away from the Insight Week. Also, I didn't need reimbursing for anything.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were a few opportunities, which were useful because chatting to people from other departments is a good way of seeing what other aspects of the industry can offer.

    3/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The social events were great and very fun. I enjoyed seeing those I'd seen in a professional environment in a social environment; it reminded me that the balance between life and work is key in maintaining a good lifestyle.

  • Yes! I found out about the inter-company networking events and how vital these are in keeping up a good relationship with other firms. I also took part in the Taylor Wimpey 6-a-sdie football tournament!
