    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I really enjoyed my week, I was given a lot of work to do. It was very interesting and gave me a real insight into what the team do. It also developed my knowledge in the industry and created a trust for me to gain more knowledge and experience about the area I was based in.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I was given real work to do, helping with real projects and writing letters to clients. So I actually helped with their jobs rather than doing pointless jobs, which made me feel like I was valued rather than an annoying person hanging around. Everyone was very helpful and kind to me.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I received a great amount of support, any questions I had were answered and for all the work I was given there was a lot of information on where to go to get what I was looking for and what was expected from me. No one was too busy to answer my questions.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • From what I have done this past week has really helped me decide that this is the area that I would like to go into. I have also learnt some more about planning and redevelopment that I haven't learnt yet within my degree, so it was very interesting to see what I have in store to learn for the rest of my degree.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • I really enjoyed shadowing and got to see what a typical week would be like in the team. I was never out of work to do and it was all very interesting. One thing I would say though is from being based in the Winchester and being the only student on placement the social lunches and drinks were quite daunting as there was only me to ask the questions and talk to everyone.

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • That atmosphere was good all week. A very good experience of working in an office. Everyone was very friendly and had time to answer my questions as well as serious and getting their work done. There was also plenty of time to get to know my team more and what they felt about the company.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Everyone in the firm was very helpful and had plenty of time to answer my questions and help my develop my knowledge as well as showing me were I can find out more information on the subjects I was looking into and direct me onto different useful aspects of the work.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • I was in work for full long days with plenty of work to do and we went out on lots of site visits so it really gave me a good insight as to what it would be like to have a full time role with the company. I enjoyed my time with the firm and can see myself working here in the future.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The insight was great in helping me understand the company culture, and what it would be like working here. It was really useful not only being in the office but going out on site visits and seeing how employees are when out of the office. Also the booklets we were given before starting were very helpful.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • I really enjoyed what I was doing everyday and definitely think what I was doing was this week would be a career path that would interest me and that I would like to gain more knowledge of. I found everything I did interesting and the typical week really suits what I would be looking for in my career.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was reimbursed expenses from that week of up to £100 which was very generous of Savills, especially after letting me have such valuable insight into their company and the different teams there are. My expenses covered parking, lunch and some fuel that I had spent over the week I was there.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • I had a networking lunch with the older employees in the office, getting to know their roles and the different departments in the office. There was also drinks with the current or recent graduates in the office where I could ask them any questions I had as well as meeting lots of different people around the office throughout the week.

    4/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • This was a great opportunity to meet different people in the office and learn about the different departments as well as ask any questions I have about being a graduate in the firm. I would say that as I was the only person doing the insight in the office the networking lunch was quite daunting as I was the only person they came to talk to and the only one coming up with any questions.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • I found out about a few different activities there were to get involved in outside of work and that the employees were looking forward to them and doing the together but I didn't ask about any specific opportunities, so only gathered information about the ones they were talking about around the office.

    3/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would definitely recommend this to a friend on my course as my time here has been really valuable to decide what I am interested in and what different career paths there are available and all the different teams within them. I have narrowed down the area that I would like to work in which has been very useful for me.
