    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I enjoyed the experience of working in a banking environment because I had the chance to better understand how it works. Moreover, being in technology, I got the chance to see how the tech sector fits into the whole picture. The people, the activities were great but at times I found it a little bit tiring.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I was shocked to see how much attention every person who we got the chance to talk too gave to us, what I mean by that being the fact that they would answer us every question with calm and patience and also they would ask us about our experience so far and not only. I would like to mention the fact that I really liked that my manager gave me and my collegue a project that would be used later in real work related things, which actually gave us a great sense of fullfilment.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • As much as I could have asked for, probably more. If I had any question or any problem to solve, I always had a large number of people to ask and they would make time for me almost instantly.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Although I don't think that the information gained during the week helpes me in any academically related things, I believe that what I gained help me much more in developing my soft skills, and in understanding how the working environment works. Also, I got the chance to understand how everything we learn in university gets to be applied in an working environment.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The structure was pretty well done although I do have to do some mentions. I understand that time is short and there is a hard time in fitting everything, maybe because of the volume of information, the first days are a little bit tiring, as you have to have some little time to get used to the environment and understand how things work.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • I cannot give any other comments regarding the atmosphere other than great. The people were helpful, great and genuinly interested in making the most of your time at the company. I got only good vibes from staying in with different employeers from different sectors and answering all my long questions. Also, the manager and the buddies were great, they really tried(and succeded) in making us comfortable with the environment.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • From my point of view, the company invested in our development as much as they could in just one week. It is really hard to fit everyting in such a short time and I think they did a great job with the everyday presentations whose purpose was to make us understand how the system works. However, because at least from technology, most of us come with little to no knowledge at all about the financial system, maybe a one day training explaining all the terms and a more in depht insight in how it works would have been helpful.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • As mentioned before, it's really hard to fit everyting in just one week. However, because of all of the work shadowing sessions (whose number i found perfect), because of the avability of the employeers to answer every one of your question and also present what they are doing on a daily basis, I think I really got the chance to understand how a full time role at the company looks like. Also, the idea of buddies I found it extremelly helpful, because they are the ones that help you a lot to see how a full time role looks like.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • For someone who has never worked before in such a big company I could say that I don't really understand a company culture looks like, because I don't have any other experiences it to compare to. However, from my week at Citi i saw that people are really eager to help each other, very communicative regarding different subjects and very opened minded, not being afraid to speak their mind. There is no sense of competition between peers and what I mean by that is that it didn't seem like a toxic environment where people care only about themselves.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • I feel like the experience gave a real insight in how a career in an investement bank looks like. Those being said, I don't know how much it had helped me in deciding on my future career path but only because I would like to explore more technology environment before deciding to set in one. It's more of a personal choice rather than something that the spring week could have influenced. However, now I know that a financial system is some place I would definetely go back to.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • yes

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Yes. Actually, meeting other employees was a big part of our whole experience, besides the setted official networking events. We were encouraged to talk to as many people as we could in order to understand the citi experience.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Great, got the chance to connect with seniors from different sectors not only technology but also with juniors and not only during the events, but during our work shadowing sessions. Probablly, during the work shadowing sessions we learned more about how things work in the company, how people are structured, etc.

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • What I was surpised was the number of activities people can get involed into, from sport societies, to different clubs such as photography, or different projects and organisations which are related to charity, personal development, work development, networking, travelling, etc. I was very happy to hear that the company encourages the employeers to engage in external projects and voluntarities.

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would defineltely recommend the insight to anyone who is interested in finding out how a working environment looks like, not only to those interested in the financial system. Why? From my point of view, the program offers the participants the oportunity to see how a big company looks like and works, being an experience that has everyting in order to make an idea about banks, especially citi.
