I really enjoyed the insight. I found it to be an informative and beneficial experience. I especially enjoyed the ADR and Corporate workshops because they were interactive and taught skills that will be useful for my future career. It was also great to learn more about the various practice areas of the firm.
The Grad Recruitment team was very helpful and friendly. They provided us with good food and they planned a lot of fun and useful activities. I felt valued because it was evident that they put a lot of effort into making sure that we had a good experience during the two days.
Everyone was very helpful and open to answering questions. It was particularly nice to spend time with trainees as it allowed us to hear about their personal experiences and gain advice from them. I learned a lot about the firm, the different practice areas, and the process of becoming a solicitor.
I think the skills I developed over the two days will be very beneficial in the future. I had the opportunity to practice skills which lawyers use regularly, such as negotiation skills and researching. These will definitely be relevant as I progress through my law degree, and also for my future career as a solicitor.
I think the insight was very well structured.
The firm had a very friendly and open atmosphere. The people I met were approachable and answered all of my questions. It was great to be able to speak with trainees, associates, and partners in a more relaxed environment. I was left with a very good impression of the firm.
They put effort into helping use with professional development by offering negotiation and mediation skills workshops, along with multiple networking opportunities.
It was a great insight into what a legal career at Herbert Smith would entail. There were many opportunities to learn about the various practice areas and the work that they do. I was also able to help with a trainee research task and gain hands-on experience. Speaking with solicitors also allowed me to learn directly from them about the work that they do.
The workshops were a great insight into the culture of Herbert Smith Freehills. Many law firms say similar things on their website, so the best way to really distinguish a firm is by visiting it. The workshops allowed me to assess the culture of the firm myself and determine if it was a suitable environment for me.
The two days were full of useful presentations and activities. I learn a lot more about the process to becoming a solicitor, the variety of practice areas that are available to specialise in, and what a legal career actually entails. It was great to gain exposure to the type of work that solicitors encounter to determine whether it actually interests me.
It wasn't a paid scheme.
There were plenty of opportunities to network with Herbert Smith employees. Almost every item on the agenda involved some level of networking and interaction with trainees, associates, and even partners of the firm. I was able to gain insights and advice from various employees. It was also nice to have opportunities to network with other students.
The networking events were great. Everyone was very approachable and I felt free to ask questions. I met so many people and was able to learn more about their own personal experience at the firm. It was nice to consistently hear positive outlooks on the firm and on the legal profession.
Yes, I learned about pro bono work and societies, such as the running group and choir.
Yes, it was a valuable experience.
