    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and appreciate HSF for the chance to be on the scheme.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • We got to mingle with all levels of the firm, from new trainees up to partners. This made us feel as if they did infact care about us, even though we are just first years.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • We receieved advice on future applications to HSF for their vacation schemes.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • As a non law student, legal work experience is like gold dust. It gave me a huge increase of understanding of the sector. This will invariably help with future applications, and put us on an equal footing with law students who will obviously have more experience prior.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Very well structured with breaks for tea and coffee. However, a little more of the hot food would go a long way as it had run out for a few of us.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • There was a friendly atmosphere, and it was nice to meet people from a wide array of universities and courses.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We had an ADR workshop and commercial workshop. This gave us a taste of the skills needed to succeed at HSF.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • I would put it that the days were like a university open day. The firm portrayed their point of view, and then we got to speak to numerous trainees and other staff who confirmed what the firm said was true.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Whilst to gain a true understanding of what it’s like to work at HSF you would need to do a vac scheme, this course allowed us to have the skills to apply for that. It was a great introduction.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • It was highly valuable, and allowed me to consider my next steps forward.

    5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Reasonable travel costs up to £100 were paid, as well as a travel lodge for the night.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • We were taken to a nice rooftop bar, where we could mingle with all levels of the company.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The same as above, but also an almost speed dating exercise with lawyers at different areas of the firm.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes, we were told of their pro bono work (billable), but also sports teams too.

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I certainly would. Especially to non law students who may find it difficult to find first year work experience in the law.

    5/5
