    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Had a fantastic year. Worked in a great team who were friendly and treated me like an adult who had been at the company for years - not like a student who was on a 12 month contract. So much else to do and get involved in on top of job role.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Was fully appreciated and respected.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • IBM has a 'handover' period from predecessor - this taught me a lot and various other managers were always open to help, guide and assist.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Job role was full on but also chose to take on other projects/events in addition. Made me busy but enjoyed most of them thoroughly.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • 4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Given me such a boost for my last year at university - both understanding some aspects of the course (as can relate to it) and also for my 'hardworking' ethic.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very good most days though some days i.e. Friday - office was empty most of the time.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Great job role, good graduate team (foundation).

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Not invested within job role but the extra activities I was involved with and the events I got to attend was great.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Working from home

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Love to go back to IBM.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Great social scene. Could either socialise with fellow placement students or with my team. Frequent team meetings.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • N/A. Only can comment on socialising - not much going on near Bedfont Lakes.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Few pubs but not much else.

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Lots of social and sporting events.
