    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Yes I very much enjoyed my work insight. I was helping out in the advertising department and the role that was involved in following what the department manager was doing to help develop my skills. I think that this was a good opportunity. I feel that I learnt a lot. I would recommend the insight to people.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Yes I did feel valued by most of my work colleagues. I got on well with most of the people that I was working with. Most of they were very friendly, helpful and welcoming and make me feel valued in the role I was doing. They were very supportive if I had any questions and keen to help.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I feel that the programme I was doing was good at making sure that I was supported by a department manager. As I was shadowing them and this meant that I was given plenty of advice that was really useful and I was able to find out how they worked with their colleagues and get generally a decent insight.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think that the training I got from doing this insight, and the skills set I developed as a result of doing this was completely different to the skills I have learnt from doing my degree, which was good because it means that I have something else to put on my CV. Although, it did not help with my degree.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was overall generally well organised. It was great as I was following the manager, which meant that the structure of his day was used to give structure and routine to mine with what I was doing. Consequently, this meant that it was well organised and there were always lots of things for me to do.

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere and general environement of the insight was pretty good. The group was helpful and supportive of me and each other, which meant there was a positive atmosphere which helped to ensure that everyone was working productivly and working hard. I believe that people were pretty friendly and I felt welcome in the office.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I think that generally the company had invested a fair amount in me and the other people on the insight. However, I do think that because I was shadowing the department manager that it was not directly an investment for the company as they did not have to pay someone extra money to train me. Although, this was still helpful and good because the manager had a lot of experience.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • I think overall I got a pretty good understanding of the company culture from the insight so this was a positive thing of doing it. also , because I was shadoing the manger it meant that I was able to attend some of the meetings from people higher in the comapny and this helped me to have a better idea of what the company was like in general.

    4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • I think that I got to see a reasonable amount of the company- because of the variety of different things that I did and feel that I would have a good idea of the lower roles in the company and some of the higher ones. I think generally this helped me decide more on what I want to do.

    4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • I think that because the insight was no so much directly linked with my degree that the aim of it for me was not to be able to understand so much what I want to do in the future, but rather to gain more experience and skills to help me apply for jobs.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Yes I was reimbursed my expense, which I was happy about as I know some places do not do this for insight experiences and felt this was adequate for the experience I had. The expense I had were primarily travel expenses and a small allowance for food and drink for each day- through the subsidised canteen food.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • I was allowed to attend various company meetings- including some high up ones, which was good. There was also one of the big events held which involved other companies that were linked. This was good as I exchanged contact details with a few people and met many with an insight in to the field of work and made useful links for the future

    4/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • There were a few networking and social opportunities. The networking opportunities include as I mention above about the big event with other companies which was very good. There were a few social events organised by the department which were also good fun and helped to get to know people better in the company.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes I did find out what some of the activities were that employees can get involved in outside of work- these included many social events, but the occasional team building event that was organised by the company too which people seem positive about. I think that the company also may subsidise some events which is good.

    4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Yes I think that I would definitely recommend this insight to a friend because I believe that overall it was a great experience to meet many new people and create a wider range of contacts for the future and also it was good to develop new skills that will be very useful in the future.
