I have really enjoyed my time at the company as it has helped me develop into a much more complete Software Engineer, as I have has the opportunity to work on real life projects involving a wide range of different technologies I had not seen previously. Moreover, I have also been able to meet a wide network of people who have helped me gain vast amounts of knowledge and were extremely friendly.
I felt extremely valued by my colleagues as they didn't think of me as just an intern. I was given high responsibilities in the projects I was part taking in. In addition to feeling valued in terms of work, they also valued my personality and I became quite close to them too.
My supervisors gave my a great amount of guidance and support when working on projects and on aspects of general life too. Any doubt I had would be resolved by my supervisors and if they were not able to do so, I was redirect to someone with more knowledge in the field who was able to guide me adequately.
I was fairly busy on a day to day basis as the projects I was working on were of high importance and had oppressing deadlines. This meant that the time was mostly spent working on my main project and any free time was spent working on side projects that were offered to me or on self learning skills
I was given a high level of responsibility within the project I was working on together with the rest of my teammates who were also interns. Some of the Software we were developing had to meet strict Aviation industry safety requirements which was then review by external scrutiny teams in order to make sure the work was up to standard.
The skills I have developed have let me see another side of the industry I was unaware of and as a consequence I will be able to understand the background of the contents I will be taught at university next year. In addition, because of the wide range of skills I have been able to gain from this placement I will surely be inclined to take subjects that revolve around the technologies I have used and learnt throughout my time at GE
The atmosphere at work was joyful and relaxed with the possibility to speak to colleagues for both work purposes as well as for social interaction. In addition, everyone in the office was extremely kind and helpful, so if any problem or issue was raised there would be immediate help in order to resolve the issue
The internship was well organised, but the beginning stages were a bit slow and chaotic. The first month was getting settled in and not much work was given, but after the initial stages were completed and I was settled into the project and knew my role, the job became much more interesting and one could see how well organised the teams are on a whole
The company invested a lot of time in me as they would offer training courses for a varied range of topics, and there would be no restriction to attend them and learnt extra skills which did not relate to my job. The company also invested in me initially by organizing events to make me and the rest of the interns feel well integrated into the teams.

The future employment prospects within the organisation are interesting but they are restricted to doing the graduate scheme that the company offers. The possibility of getting a full time job assured for after university is rarely an option at the firm as the company feels like there is a need receive previous training of the industry
The social scene at the company was one of the best parts of the placement. Because of the size of the company there are 60 interns and there is always an opportunity to meet with the outside of work and get to know each other on a more personal level, as they are also students of roughly the same age
The cost of living in the area was pretty high as it is a rich area in England and there is an ageing population in the region, but that said it is more a personal management issue and how each person handles their money. The same concept can be applied to the cost of socialising
The nightlife in the area I worked in was not the most exciting. There are a variety of pubs and bars all around the town centre, but when it comes to clubs the options are pretty limited and the types of clubs are not the best either. A better option is to travel to other cities or to go around the pubs in the area as these are quite enjoyable to go to
Yes, aside from nightlife there are many other activities one can engage in, in this area such as hikes, go karting and sporting activities such as football and basketball one can play. In addition, if the individual gets along with a group of interns there can be house parties organised and travelling trips too
