About You
The 'Women in Business' insight week at PwC is truly an amazing opportunity and unlike any other programme of its kind! I throughly enjoyed my time spent at the firm as it provided the unique opportunity to shadow a respected business leader. I found this an amazing development opportunity and had a very enjoyable and rewarding experience!
I was made to feel very well valued during my time spent at PwC! I found everyone to be genuine and friendly, instantly putting me at ease on my first day. I was treated as a valued and respected member of staff. The people that I had the opportunity to meet seemed to be genuinely interested in me and what I was doing, happily answering all the questioned that I had.
I felt very well supported throughout the process. Before I joined, the recruitment team provided me with all the information and support I needed, making my arrival on the first day as smooth as it could be. The business leader who I was shadowing was also extremely supportive and provided me with useful career advice and guidance, which I know will benefit me in the future.
The skills that I developed and the information that I recieved during my time spent at PwC will certaintly assist me in my degree and far beyond that! In particular, I developed my research and communication skills, as well as developed my confidence and ability to tackle new and challenging situations.
The Company
I found the insight week to be very well structured. The director who I was shadowing had obviously put a great deal of effort into ensuring that I had a varied and interesting experience at the firm and my days were perfectly planned out. I had the opportunity to take on my own responsibilities and I could not fault the overall structure of the insight programme.
I very much enjoyed the atmosphere at the firm. Everyone that I had the opportunity to speak to was really friendly and I instantly felt that I fitted in at the firm. It was your typical office-based environment and whilst everyone had a lot of work to be getting on with, I found it to be an inclusive, friendly and open working environment.
Whilst there was no structured or formal training on this insight (it was only a week-long so I would not have expected any), it was clear to see how much PwC had invested into this insight programme. I had the opportunity to develop new skills and my mentor was keen to help me to work on my personal development.
The insight programme is very beneficial for helping to understand what it would be like to have a full time position at PwC. During my time spent with the firm, I was able to understand more about the typical working hours as well as the overall company culture at PwC. Having the opportunity to shadow a business leader, you get a real understanding of what a demanding full-time role involves.
This insight provided a good understanding of what the company culture is like. There in an emphasis on self-motivation and PwC trusting the employees to work independently. In return, employees are allowed to have flexible working hours to suit their lifestyle. I found everyone to be hard-working and intelligent, but also very friendly, with a diverse range of interests and backgrounds.
I fouund the content of the week and the overall experience at PwC to be beneficial in helping me to determine my future career path. As my days were spent shadowing a business leader, I was able to get a real sense of whether this career path is for me or not.
