    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I found this to be a very rewarding and enjoyable experience, full of new and exciting opportunities which allowed me to develop as an individual. I found that the staff at PwC were friendly and welcoming, creating a positive working environment. There was a variety of opportunities made available to us as interns and it really is a great experience.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was made to feel extremely well valued during my time at PwC and my colleagues were very helpful and approachable. My team were more than willing to answer all of my many questions and explained the concepts to me in terms that I could understand. They placed a lot of trust in me, allowing me to work on on-going client projects and I was treated as a valued member of the team.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Throughout the internship at PwC, I recieved plenty of support and guidance by both my manager and my team. My line manager ensured that we had a weekly catch-up, where we could review my work and progress, and I also had a buddy who I could turn to for support. Furthermore, the HR team were very supportive throughout the process.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was busy throughout the entire internship at PwC, which I really loved and there was never any days were I was bored or had nothing to be doing. I also ensured that I kept busy by asking to sit in on meetings and calls. Furthermore, I arranged lots of coffees and lunches as a way of networking so my days were always busy and varied.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a good amount of responsibility on this internship at PwC! I had the opportunity to work independently and 'own' tasks, however I always knew that I had the support of my senior colleagues should I need it! Furthermore, all of my work was reviewed by my line manager so I didn't have to worry about doing anything wrong.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills and knowledge learnt will hopefully benefit me in both my university degree and my career beyond that. On the internship, I developed plenty of 'soft' skills that will benefit me at both university and beyond and I certainly believe that this internship has made me more confident in my abilities.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There was a really great general atmopshere at PwC, with the office being a relaxed and laid back place (although this may be due to the fact I was there over the Summer months). Everyone was there to get their work done however we had a good laugh throughout the day. Social events were very common too; whether it be grabbing a few drinks on a Friday or team BBQs.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The summer internship was very well organised overall and I always knew what I was supposed to be doing. We had a induction week which helped us get used to all of the systems and using the online system I was able to see which clients I was booked to. Moreover, my line manager ensured I had a good programme of work to complete throughout my time at the firm.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Very much so! As mentioned we had a induction week at the start of the intership, which helped with our personal development. This week included building both technical knowledge and soft skills along with basics of how the firm operates. Throughout the internship, I was able to develop my skills and knowledge of the sector and my line manager was particularly focused on helping me to develop professionally.
