    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I very much enjoyed my placement with in the More London office. I was chucked in the mix with 30 graduates and it was great to form such a close network with new recruits as we were all getting to know the business and our business area (Audit) more.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Within the audit sphere, you are often put into teams on a client and thus you have your often work to do. Your colleagues will often look to you to see how your chosen area is coming along and makes you feel valued as an employee.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Whilst working in your teams you are more than welcome to ask any questions to your management staff about the work you were doing. However, you must learn not to ask too many questions and not waste their time... it's all about finding that balance. Lastly, they also have a support team if you feel too stressed about any aspect of your life which is a good culture to have in a company.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • As with the financial year ends, you will be extremely busy between January and March. However, outside of those times you work the normal 9-5 depending on your work load of course. They also have a resourcing team which place you on different jobs which means you constantly have work to be getting on with.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • PwC give you the adequate training on their software and scenarios to help you understand your role more. After this, you are put into audit teams and are instantly given a role within the team and you are responsible for you own pieces of work which will be reviewed by the senior associate or manager.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • In parallel to my work, I was put through my ACA (ICAEW) in which I completed 7 (out of 15) exams in the year. This was great to further help my understanding of accounting and means that I can finish my chartered accounting degree a year earlier than if I was just coming on as a graduate. PwC also provide loads of training which is subject to your business area to best understand your clients.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Your whole business sector is put on one floor which means that you slowly get to know everyone from 1st year grads to directors. Every month they hold drinks in the office on a friday to let everyone unwind and chat about life outside work.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The level of organisation was good. At first I was a bit confused as to what was involved in the placement as I was put in with the other graduates. However, once I could understand what was expected of me everything was really well organised.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • As previously stated, PwC fund you through your training and learning for your ACA. This allows you to focus on the exams at hand and give you the best possible chance at passing.
