    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my internship at PwC. I felt as though the firm took very good care of the interns. I liked how we were made to feel so welcome, eased into the process, supported throughout and accepted as a full member of the team. Overall the work was very enjoyable.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Virtually all of my colleagues were very friendly, helpful and supportive throughout the duration of my internship. I liked how I was treated as an equal by everyone up to partner level and not just the associates. I was invited to go to social events with them after work and by the end I felt like I had established a strong meaningful relationship with them.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given support from several different avenues. Firstly my buddy helped me with basic questions regarding work and technology. He was always happy to help and even when he couldn't provide an answer himself, he sent me to somebody who could. My people manager provided me with more general support and advice and he arranged meetings regularly.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The amount of work I had to do varied day by day. Some days I was given work with a short deadline and this would usually cause me to be quite busy. However, some days were fairly relaxed especially towards the end of the internship. That being said, I never had nothing to do and overall there was a good balance.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility during my internship. I was tasked with writing reports on confidential, market sensitive information. A lot of the work I performed was used by my colleagues to produce the final audit report. Therefore, I felt as though I was making a real difference.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The most important skill I developed during this internship was time management. It was necessary to juggle my time between a number of different tasks which required different amounts of time to complete and they had different deadlines. Keeping an updated google calendar was a simple but effective solution to improve my organisation which I will continue to do into the future.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere in the office was very positive. Everybody made an effort to get to know me and make me feel welcome. We mixed up the seating arrangements to get to know everyone better and held social events on Fridays. The atmosphere was bright, friendly and made life as an intern much more enjoyable.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship was very well organised. There was an amazing orientation week with all the other interns. There we received some very helpful training and were given an idea of what kind of work we would be performing. The support networks and regular communication made the internship feel very structured with a clear direction.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm invested a lot into me. There was a significant amount of time taken out of PwC employees and partners days to spend with the interns. For example, the partner at my office took us out for lunch to get to know us. We also received several days training at the start and had access to online training programmes too.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Working from home

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The future employment prospects are very good. There is a well-established career ladder that would involve promotion every few years. There are also opportunities to move around within the firm and also for travel. My only concern is the relatively uncompetitive starting salaries for associates but this does improve over time.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was a very good social scene amongst fellow placement students. We communicated regularly outside of class and met up at the weekend. We also attended office social events with the PwC employees. The internship was too short to experience the full extent of the social scene but overall I was very satisfied.
