    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Fantastic opportunity to get an insight into the industry and the Deloitte ´s culture. The summer interns were given a lot of independence and responsibility, so we could contribute to the project. I always felt as being a full time part of the team and was never being treated differently.

  • Colleagues were willing to share their stories, advice and answer any questions. As mentioned in other sections, interns were generally given real responsibility and independence. Our colleagues regarded us as being full time part of the team, so it was great to see that my pieces of work where incorporated into the project.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Overall, I was able to contribute independently to a project. My colleagues trusted me, and as mentioned above, they were willing to provide guidance and feedback. If I was unsure of what to do, I could always rely on them. Moreover, they even encouraged me to keep asking questions so that there is clarity of what needs to be done.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Difficult to tell as I finished the summer scheme only recently. However, it definitely improved my team working skills, communication as well as presentation skills. I was often supposed to analyze data individually, use it as an evidence to support our arguments and present those argument to the client team.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Generally, the amosphere was very nice. As mentioned in other sections, the summer interns were given a lot of responsibility and our teams relied on our pieces of work. It was nice to see that my contribution is taken seriously and I was often given a feedback after my work. As mentioned on the scale, the fun never stopped.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The summer vacation scheme was very well organized. It allowed us to work on interesting projects in various industries and we were given a lot of serious responsibility and independece, so we could realistically contribute to the project. However, the scheme was not only about work but also about networking and getting to know the company. That is why we had multiple social events during the scheme.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company invested in us their time as well as money. When it comes to the prior, we had a great exposure to various industries and our responsibilities varied too! Moreover, Deloitte wanted us to bond with each other as well as with full time employees, so they organized several social and networking events.

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Deloitte seems like a perfect firm to work for. This is especially true for recent graduates, as the exposure that one can get to different industries, people, and responsibilities is great. Moreover, the learning curve is incredibly steep. At the same time, the culture is suitable with my values and I felt comfortable at the firm.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • 3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Generally, London is regarded as an expensive city when it comes to living and socialising. However, it is always a matter of personal preferences. For instance, I stayed in the eastern London, a bit further from the city center, but for a lot cheaper price than people who stayed in the center.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • As my office was located close to the city center, there were plenty of pubs, restaurants or clubs to visit after work. Similarly like with the question above, it always comes down to individual preferences. However, London is ready to accommodate any cousine, e.g. Italian, Indian etc., needs that you might have.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • As mentioned in other sections too, Deloitte organized several social and networking events. Some were strictly for the summer interns, others on the other hand, were for full time staff too. This way we could find out about different departments as well as listen to experiences of full time staff.

    4/5
