The Role
The internship at CRUK is a really enjoyable experience. Everyone is extremely friendly and helpful and there is always loads of fun things going on, from bake sales to boxing matches.
You're given real responsibilities and treated like part of the team. Even though you're an intern, you still feel your opinion and your work is valued.
My manager has been so helpful and patient, being there to answer all of my questions. She's gone out of her way to make sure I'm getting the most out of the internship programme. Furthermore there is a mentoring scheme in which you're provided with help and support from someone in a different department, giving you a broad range of support and guidance.
Mainly I've been really busy throughout the internship, which gives you a sense of purpose. At points throughout the internship there have been dips, however these soon picked up.
You're not given mock tasks, or simply assisting in the organisation, you're given real work and real responsibilities. I interned in recruitment and now have hands on experience of almost the whole process.
I've learnt and developed so much from being here. I'm more confident, I have experience in a real work environment, I'm a better communicator and I've learnt skills that I can transfer into my future career.
The Company
Everyone is really lovely and friendly and always willing to help. There is always loads going on around the office you can get involved with and you have the other interns to buddy up with.
It's well organised, with regular development days and progression assessments with your manager.
Throughout the internship there are several training and development days and there is a focus upon getting as much out of your experience as possible. There are loads of resources provided for your own learning and they are eager to see you succeed in getting a full time job.

The Graduate scheme is a great programme and the entry level roles here are appealing too. CRUK seems like a great place to work for, because they invest in people and are working together for a common goal.
The Culture
There is a group of other interns and we would all have lunch together and occasionally go for drinks. Within my team there were monthly drinks and because my internship is over Christmas, there will be a Christmas party.
London is expensive anywhere you go. However there are a few local pubs/bars that offer discounts to staff.
I don't know, I've not been out in this area.
Due to the fundraising aspects of the organisation there is so much to get involved in. Furthermore there are a few clubs you can join, such as Yoga.
