    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Cushman & Wakefield. The team I was in ensured I was kept busy at all times and even gave me a fair deal of responsibility. I worked on some very exciting projects and was able to get out of the office to view development sites and met some of the teams key clients. At the same time, there were several social events going on and it was a great way to meet the other interns and it enhanced my network.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The team were very supportive and appreciative of my work. They gave me the confidence I needed to get stuck into the daily life of the team.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Plenty of support. I was given a line manager and a buddy so could connect to different levels of the team.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Very busy. I had lot of projects I was helping out with. I also asked to get involved with another team and was out of the office most days. This gave me a good idea of how the team ran and gave me a good indication of whether property was the right pathway for me (which it was!)

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • As mentioned I was given a good deal of responsibility and felt like I really had a part to play in the projects that were on. I even met clients which shows that the team had trust in me.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I developed really helped me choose what sort of pathway I was interested in and chose planning and development in my final year at Uni. As part of the program I had to do a presentation which enhanced my speaking skills. It also gave me a good idea of what it was like to work in a property firm. It also led to me working for C&W.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Friendly. The team seemed like they had a good relationship with each other and worked well. It was also very social and a general sense that people enjoyed working there.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It was a well organised 6 weeks and the HR team ensured that there were extra-ciricullar events added to the program. When I arrived I felt like I was well looked after. The program orientated itself around the presentation at the end.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There were workshops put on for us which specialised in presentations and building your brand in the office. We were very lucky to be given these presentations and they have helped me with my work skills ever since. There were also social events put on which was great to meet the other interns/grads.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very good. I was offered the job on the back of the internship.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes, as mentioned the scheme ensured that we all met up for drinks and sports and I got to know fellow interns well.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost of living was high but the socialising was great as well.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Very good.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes there were sport events such as softball put on. However, considering that we were only there for 6 weeks it was hard to committ to anything.
